when does the math come in

hello everyone.....i have been accepted to an ADN program for fall and I am very nervous about the math.....i did get thru it in LPN school 5 yrs ago with alot of help....i have some sort of mental block when it comes to math....esp if i have to do it in front of someone!

so....when does the math start?...how do they present it?....do they just jump in with calculations or start with conversions first....i am SO nervous....this is what is going to make me or break me.....

i read on here some dosage calcs that people are having a hard time with and i have NO idea how to go about sloving them...AND i did them all in LPN school......havent had to do one since.....well....easy ones.....50mg of something with only 25mg tabs....stuff like that...

HELP!!

for the most part it is all med calc which you should be able to do as a LPN without issue.

I suggest you buy this book: Dosage Calculations Made Incredibly Easy!

You can find it on Amazon or your local bookstore. Read it before you start in the fall and practice. There are only a few ways to calculate, so take one method at a time. Give yourself one or two weeks on each method. Practice, practice, practice. :specs:

Lol. Third post today to someone who hates Math! I see a trend!

I just finished my first semester of RN school, we had Math in the second half of the semester [16 week semester].

I would check, but my college offers a Drug Calculation class that's an elective. I took it and found it to be of tremendous help.

I know another local community college around here offers a Math class as well, Math for Nurses.

I would check with your college to see if they offer a class like that. Also, if they are going to teach it to you at the school, there has to be someone who is there to help should you have questions.
