When do you usually finish your tests?

Quick question:

"When do you usually finish your tests?"

When you take a test, are you one of the first people to finish and leave the room, or are you one of the ones who uses the entire testing time to make sure that you've done it right? And how is it working for you?

I know for me, I like to use the entire testing time to check (and then recheck) my answers. I'm always afraid that I'll fill in the wrong circle on the Scantron and miss that question! I'm usually one of the last people to leave the room after a test, but so far it seems to be working for me. I know that if I rush I'll mess up or make a simple mistake. My first A&P 1 test is Tuesday, and I'm sure that I'll be one of the last ones to leave after the test. But that's just me, how about you?

Thanks. :wideyed:

I'm always one of the first ones out. I just freak myself out if I go back to check things. Today I was like the 4th one done and got 100% :D Sometimes I skip one if I'm unsure and hoping to find a hint later on in the test, but I usually just get it done.

Well I think everybody functions differently. I'm one of the first ones out the door. If I see multiple people leave before myself, I START PANICKING :/ it's so weird! And I do worse if I stay and check my answers. It's a bad habit I believe. I should not rush myself but it has thus far been working for me ;)

Well, today was my first A&P I test covering chapters 1-4, 63 questions (3 are extra credit if we get all 60 questions correct), and 1 hour and 15 minutes to take the test. I spent about 1 hr and 10 minutes to read, answer, and check, and recheck all of the questions (and make sure I filled out the scantron correctly :) I was the third last person to finish the test. My professor just posted our test scores, and I got 105% (all correct including the extra credit questions!) I think our class average is 87% for this first test.

I usually know right away if I know the answer, so I mark it and move on. I put marks to the sides of the one that I have to think about and come back to them after I go through the whole test. I rarely spend more that a minute or two on any question. I either know it or I don't. I'm usually among the first 10 finished. I am an A/B student. We are not allowed to leave until the last test is turned in.

Everybody tests differently. It's good that you know what works for you!

Right now, I'm one of the first people out. That's with double checking, and I have the second highest grade in one class and the highest in the other.

But it's all circumstantial. Historically, I finish in the middle, but towards the first half of the class. But how long I take depends on the style of test... is it essay or scantron or short answer? Essays take me a lot longer to write because I have to take the time to make sure I hit on every single point the instructor is looking for. And then I have to make sure my paragraphs are well written and my spelling is correct. I can fly through a scantron, though.

But another thing is that I've taken the classes I'm currently taking, before. My pre-req's are too old, so I have to retake them now. Only, I've been using this information in my jobs for the last 10 years too. But the nursing school wants the classes. So here I am, flying through tests. It's not typical for me, it's just where I'm at right now ;-)

I am almost always one of the first done and I generally receive very good grades. I have a "system" that works for me. I read the question and answers and then go with my first instinct, I skip over questions that take me more than a minute or two so that I don't get distracted, and at the end of the test I go back to the ones that I skipped and spend a little more time on those.

I always finish first, and by at least 15 minutes. I don't read words line by line, I just sort of see entire sections at a time. It usually freaks people out, and I feel horrible for the people who get test anxiety because of it. The only time someone has ever beaten me out of a classroom, she forgot to do an essay on the back page (however, if I hadn't finished immediately after her and said "Man, those short answers were tough," she never would have run back and gotten to finish).

I'm surprised the instructor allowed her to finish. Once we hand in our tests, that's it. I learned that the hard way. I had 4 questions I worked out on scrap paper (they were math/conversion/drug calc questions). I worked out the answers, handed in my test.. Once outside the door of the classroom, I realized while I had worked out the answers on the scrap paper and was 100% confident in my answers, I forgot to put those answes on my test! immediataly I had 4 wrong :(

I took my first microbiology exam last week. I wasn't one of the first to finish - I'd say I was in the first 1/3 - 1/2 to finish and got one of the highest scores. I went back and rechecked everything and changed some answers that I misread the first time, since I was nervous at the beginning of the test.

I go finish tests as fast I reasonably can. If it takes me more than a minute to read and answer I skip the question and move on, after I make it to the end, I go back to the ones that I skipped, then I turn it in.

I will sit and think about the questions that I don't know, but I do take this as a warning that I don't really understand that topic and make a mental note to study that area again.
