The thought of failing is putting me in a stupor 8 0

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I have a D+ in physiology right now.I've been doing c-c+ on lecture tests but then failed my lab test. I have 1 Lab, 1 Lecture, and a paper and oral report due, plus the lab journal to turn in. So if I make A's in the last few things I can still raise it up. But the thought of getting a C (D is not even on my mind) is pretty debilitating right now. I know if I get a C, my dream I will not get into program.I already got a B in anatomy and even if I get an A in micro, my science gpa will be like a 2.9something. My school is has a point based program, and highly competitive. a 4.0 in science prereqs will get someone like 40 points, drop to a 3.0 its 20 points.Something like that. So im just thinking I am so screwed. I have a child no help besides my mom, I would be willing to relocate but just dont see how that would be possible. I pretty much just came here to vent and ask do you think its possible to raise my grade.I mean I know mathematically I can, I did the math! But do you think a person whose been making C's on a test and a F on lab can start making As. I will do anything to make this dream a reality, but part of me fears that Im hopeless *sigh*

Let me add, part of the reason I did horribly on the ;ab test is because I totally misunderstood one of the questions thought we couldnt use humans in the experiment... And the lecture test I usually do pretty good on the multiple choice but the essay questions kill me. The last lecture test there will be no essay questions Yay! But still will be hard. Well let me get off allnurses and start on my paper...

To be honest, I'd drop the class and retake next semester. It's far better to explain a W than a C, IMO. I have a child too with little help so I know how it is. I wouldn't chance it if it were me and screw up my chances of getting into the school I need.

Teachers are people. If they understand you are working hard and take the class seriously, they might be willing to round up if your grade is borderline. Some will even offer extra credit.

I wouldn't drop the class unless you verify that you can still get a Withdrawal. It seems late in the semester for that.

I would also call the nursing program where you plan to apply to and ask what they would recommend. Frankly I don't want a nurse who got mediocre science grades. But I'd have great respect for a nurse who got a C the first time in Physio and and A the second time. It shows that you mastered the material even though it was difficult. You need to find out how the nursing program views these kinds of issues.

Don't stress about getting into the nursing program when you don't have your final Physio grade and haven't even taken Microbiology. Just fight to do your best in this class. Once it's done you can assess your situation and think about applying to different schools or other things you can do to improve your odds of getting into nursing school.

If I was in your shoes (and I was when I was pregnant for A&P 2), I dropped it and re took the class once I wasn't pregnant and got an A-. I even took the summer 4 week class. It is better to have a W on your transcript than a failing grade. Good luck. I was accepted for the ADN program this fall :)

see thats my issue. when i was pregnant i was super sick and had to drop anatomy with a w. my school only allows one w then starts subtracting points. its too late for me to drop anyways. and you cant retake c grades. should i just fail it and take the subtraction?
