I'm just curious what you had to do to get on that list?? I'm actually not on one, I'm attending our local CC but the tech school here offers an LPN program with a 2 year waiting list. I was thinking about getting on that list just incase I don't get accepted for the ADN program at my school...
So I called the school and for me to get on the list... I would have to go for a campus visit, fill out an application, meet with an advisor, pay the $20.00 enrollment fee, and get all of my transcripts in order.
That isn't that big of a deal, but I was thinking of all the $$ they are getting just for the enrollment fees and how many of those students pay that 20.00 and don't actually end up going there 2 years down the road...I have decided to just stay where I'm at and work hard at getting accepted next year... we shall see....
So I was wondering if that is the norm or not... TIA

I don't know if that is the norm or not but I am on a waiting list at one school and going for another. I had to complete all of my prerequisites first, then I petitioned, and now I'm on a 2 1/2 year long wait list. That is now my plan B.
Plan A is to go to the university here and get my BSN which I would be within one semester of completeing by the time I'm scheduled to go into the ADN program (i hope that makes sense).

I had to apply to the school, pay the $35 ( I think that's what the fee was I can't rememeber haha) application fee, take all of my prereqs, apply online for the program, fill out a form with my grades and when I completed my prereqs, and I am still waiting on my waitlist number.
Things are kind of unorganized with the waitlist at the moment. It's been a big mess, but they're working on getting it straightened out (hopefully soon). So, I am on the waitlist I just don't know what # I am.

Do all the schools
in your area have a waiting list? My school just switched to a point system, which is great for me. The other 2 year schools around here have waiting lists. I would hate to have to jump through all their hoops and still have to wait for 2 years.
I don't know what city you are looking at for a nursing school
but I think all schools are different.

I'm not sure about the other schools in the area. The ADN program I am hoping to go attend has a point system also... I think I will end up with 60/70 by the time it is all said and done and they said anything over 50 is pretty good... so fingers crossed...
I was just thinking about an LPN program as my back up just in case I wouldn't get accepted. I was just curious if all that hoohaha had to be done just to be put on a waiting list. It just seems like they are making a lot of dough on kids who might not even attend... and with the shortage...I would think they would want to make it as easy to be put on a list (I can understand having to have a certain GPA and pre-reqs.... and such)... but that could be completed while you are waiting... not before...
