Hello everyone !!

I was looking for a post for the Entry-Level BSN program for Winter 2016 at Nova and I couldn't find one, so I decided to make one where we could all get in contact to discuss and share our experience, tips, thoughts and questions on this journey !

So, I guess I'll begin with mine!! I originally began my application to Nova April 30th (kind of late considering their deadline for registration was June 1st) for the Fall Semester. After I submitted both my nursingCAS and the NSU application, it took about 2 weeks to receive a response. I got my email for the interview May 19th. I immediately registered for an interview (June 4th, tomorrow!!!) and began to prepare.

I called Nova, to see if I could get some feedback as to what I could use to study from, or if there was any specific book I could purchase. The girl who I spoke to kindly informed me that there was no specific study guide and that the test would be based on previous knowledge from my prerequisites. With that being said, I immediately started googling and finding out as much information as possible about the Exam and the interview process (where I came to find this website that has genuinely helped me so much with gathering info). I then purchased the "Nursing School Entrance Exams" Kaplan book through Amazon, which cost me around $20, and began to study from that. I can' t tell you guys yet if that worked for me or not since we don't know the exact material of the exam and I hadn't taken the exam yet, but I'll make sure to come back and let you guys know how it went!

I received a call last week on Friday, that there were no more available seats for the Fall Term 2015. The girl I spoke to advised me to still present myself to the interview and take the exam. She also told me that the application could be moved to the Winter Term and that way I don't have to apply all over again and go through the same process. So, that's what I plan on doing.

I am so nervous for the exam more than anything, since I don't know what to expect, but I am trying to stay positive.

Hey! I just finished my application and the nursingcas one today and submitted all the info. I am a current pre-nursing student at nsu and I still need anatomy (5 credit course), chem, and life span to complete. Good luck with everyone that is applying :)

Steve! Thanks for commenting on my post! I haven't checked this post in a while, sorry!!! That's awesome! You finish this fall semester then with your requisites ?

Yes! This Fall I am register to take the last three courses left. I am a bit worried about whether or not I'll get an interview because I haven't taken Anatomy yet and idk how that will affect me when I take the Kaplan or during the admissions process. Have you hear back yet?

Hey, i also applied to NSU's nursing program for winter 2015, i submitted my transcripts through nursingcas and i got an email yesterday saying that they just received them from my current college (Broward college) and they are being processed. I've yet to finish A&P 2 which I'm doing this semester, micro and Nutrition. I met with a current nursing student today while at work, and she told me the interview is not that bad, it's mostly on why you want to become a nurse. She said the Kaplan is very challenging, but as long as you score around the average of everybody else and do well on the interview, you should be fine. Best of luck mates!

Steve! As long as you are enrolled in the class before the interview I think you should be okay. For the Kaplan definitely study from your A&P notes. It's what's going to help you most!

Hi andry! They are right! The interview is not so bad, I was very nervous of course, but I believe it's where I did best. I got a 70, which was around the same that everyone in my group scored that day. The Kaplan overall is not so bad, the science is the challenging part. I haven't heard back yet and it's driving me crazy. It's been exactly 2 weeks since my interview.

Hey Yudi thanks for the feedback! Do you mind sharing some of the questions they asked you during the interview and an approximate number of questions, how may people were in the room, etc..

Did you turn in any reference letters through NursingCas, if so how many?

What campus do you plan on going? Sorry for all the questions, im just full of mixed emotions at this point. :unsure:

No, no problem!! Ask any questions you may have and I will try to answer as best as I can.

So, when we first got there in the morning, we were a total of about 18-20 people. By the time we finished the Kaplan and took our lunch, there were 13 of us including myself. Yes, the others literally left. I am not sure why, maybe the nerves. After lunch we wrote our essays in the same room we were going to be interviewed in and waited for the interviewers there (which there were 3 interviewers in total, they were all professors).

They separated us into 2 groups.... My group had 6 people, the other group had 7.

The group of 7 went in first, they took about 30-45mins. And our group went last.

I am sure we spent the same amount of time interviewing as the last group but honestly it felt like 5mins. They asked us 3 questions to answer individually (anyone can go first, and anyone else can follow) and they asked us 2 questions to answer as a group, meaning all of our answers combined to come to a conclusion. They asked us, "what quality do you have that makes you unique from everyone else." "What are three qualities a nurse should have," and "Tell us of an experience you had were you were responsible for giving important or delicate news." The group questions asked something like, if we are doing a project and one of the people in the group was being difficult how do we handle it, and the other one asked what we would do if we saw someone take another persons book and place it on their backpack. In the group questions I believe they just want to get a feel of how you work with others, so make sure to interact. I turned in 3 reference letters through NursingCas and the same ones through the NSU website and application. I plan on going to the Miami Campus in Kendall.

What was the essay on? Was it about the road sign that drove you to become a nurse?

Thanks for the info :) my friends got accepted for the fall semester and they gave me some info similar as yours. I do work at NSU and from what I know undergraduate admissions is moving offices and what not so if you don't hear from them call them. That's what my friend did. They didn't tell me when they were going to start reviewing for the winter term....

I was told by a lady named Sharifa, on the phone about 2 weeks ago that they would call/email for interviews around August or September. I'm not sure if that's still the case though.
