Nova Southeastern University Entry-Level BSN Winter (January 2016) !

Published

Hello everyone !!

I was looking for a post for the Entry-Level BSN program for Winter 2016 at Nova and I couldn't find one, so I decided to make one where we could all get in contact to discuss and share our experience, tips, thoughts and questions on this journey !

So, I guess I'll begin with mine!! I originally began my application to Nova April 30th (kind of late considering their deadline for registration was June 1st) for the Fall Semester. After I submitted both my nursingCAS and the NSU application, it took about 2 weeks to receive a response. I got my email for the interview May 19th. I immediately registered for an interview (June 4th, tomorrow!!!) and began to prepare.

I called Nova, to see if I could get some feedback as to what I could use to study from, or if there was any specific book I could purchase. The girl who I spoke to kindly informed me that there was no specific study guide and that the test would be based on previous knowledge from my prerequisites. With that being said, I immediately started googling and finding out as much information as possible about the Exam and the interview process (where I came to find this website that has genuinely helped me so much with gathering info). I then purchased the "Nursing School Entrance Exams" Kaplan book through Amazon, which cost me around $20, and began to study from that. I can' t tell you guys yet if that worked for me or not since we don't know the exact material of the exam and I hadn't taken the exam yet, but I'll make sure to come back and let you guys know how it went!

I received a call last week on Friday, that there were no more available seats for the Fall Term 2015. The girl I spoke to advised me to still present myself to the interview and take the exam. She also told me that the application could be moved to the Winter Term and that way I don't have to apply all over again and go through the same process. So, that's what I plan on doing.

I am so nervous for the exam more than anything, since I don't know what to expect, but I am trying to stay positive.

Good luck to all the new applicants for Winter Term and those that are on the same boat as me. Hopefully we are all together soon in the BSN program at NSU!!!!!!!

Actually the essay had nothing to do with nursing. We had to write of a time we had to be part of a group and what was our role in the group and how did we contribute. I called nova this week since I still had not heard from them and I received a call back today. The girl I spoke to informed me they would start sending out the emails next week on the decisions for the first interviewers for winter which was my group since we were Interviewing for fall and got moved due to all the seats being filled.

Wow that essay sounds a little tricky to write about, i can't even think of a time, unless i can include something about working in a restaurant environment. I guess its a one page right?

Yes it's a one page.. Maybe they change the essay topic around by the time you have to take it. Have you started studying for the Kaplan?

I'm going to start that soon, i ordered the Kaplan nursing school entrance 4th edition book about 4 days ago, it should be arriving within the next few days. How was the math and science when you took it? I heard science is a no joke kind of deal.

I ordered the Kaplan book as well, and honestly I just studied the science portion. And yes that is the hardest part of the exam. English and Writing are good subjects for me, so I didn't even go over that. I do suggest to brush up on some fractions, since the math portion of the kaplan is mostly fractions and percentages. If you have your notes from A&P study that for the science. I recommend to begin studying soon so you have time and your not rushed. Feels good to get the exam and interview out of the way!

That's what I am doing this summer! My friend advised me to go on cliffnotes for the A&P part.

Steven yea good idea! Even your A&P book will help. Kaplan book did not help me much with the science portion.

How long did nursingcas take to receive transcripts for you guys?

I applied on June 4th, with that being said, Mine is STILL being processed. In my case i think it's taking longer because I'm a transfer student and my transcripts AND reference letters are being verified. I'm playing a waiting game with nursingcas.

My nursingcas application and the nsu application both took about 2 weeks. But remember it's still very early to apply, maybe that's why it's taking a bit longer. I still haven't gotten an answer from nova since my interview on June 4th.

Hey guys im joyous to announce that i have been selected to take part of an interview with NSU and take the Kaplan exam! I logged in my NSU VIP account, saying, "it appears after an initial review that you have fulfilled the required prerequisites and have met the GPA, you will be selected for an interview and Kaplan entrance exam." The dates and times are still unknown, the rest of the announcement said that they will be contacting me through my email upon more known details.

I think you should give them a call, just to let them know your still alive :cat:
