How many of us are out there?

I am 34, married with a 10 month old. I already have a bachelor degree and a master of public health. Hoping to be accepted into a nursing program this fall. Waiting for letters is soooo hard!

im in my early 20s in nursing school, and a large majority of my class have demographics of mid 30s to late 40s, 2nd career, and with kids in college. i dont find it odd at all and i dont think your numbers are that small at all. you may be disillusioned because you always hear younger hopefuls talking about their plans to apply for nursing school only to find out that theyre not really mature enough (or academically capable, or whatever the case may be) to actually make it in and/or tough it out. im starting to think if anything us young'ns are the minority haha. chin up and good luck to you all!

You are definitely not alone there are many of us out here! I'm 27 almost 28 and I have an almost 6 year old daughter and fiance. You can do anything that you put your mind to. I wish you the best of luck!

Will be 27 in a couple days, getting married in June, have a BS in animal science. Nontraditional is getting rather normal!

Hello! I'm 34, married, 3 kiddos. I have a BS in microbiology, and grad work in biochemistry (didn't finish). I'm taking the TEAS V in a week, and plan on applying to a local ADN program in the next couple of months.

24, Married with a 10 month old girl! I was accepted to Becker college to do a 2 1/2 year bachelors degree. I hold my associates in liberal arts already. I applied to two more BSN programs and one ADN. Waiting os killing me! I will find out from all by April 16th.

Me! 32 years old, married with a 4 year old and a 1 year old. I'm finishing up my last semester of pre-requisites and have been accepted into clinicals for Spring 2015.

A non traditional student is typically someone in their mid 20's or who otherwise worked out of high school prior to going to college vs. a traditional student as being someone who went directly to college after high school.

In my case, I'm 50 years young, married, empty nesting (unless you count two dogs) who started going back to college for a carrier change last June. If Jesus wills it, my prerequisites will be complete for a RN program by mid May of this year; I'll be starting a RN program this coming August.
