Micro and Krebs' Cycle

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

What was I thinking? Microbiology was not a pre-requisite, but they allowed me to take a class a semester ahead of schedule because of my grades last semester. I should have stuck with the easier of the two! So here I am working full time and doing A&P, Organic and BioChemistry, Nurse Research Intern, an Art History class (I will graduate with both degrees because I have so much of my art history done) and Micro.

The tests on this class are wild as I had the basic concepts down, but still got a C because there were many things pulled out that were more minutia than overarching content knowledge.

Anyway, I've been struggling over this same chapter for 2 weeks now - respiration. We are using Bauman's Microbiology textbook and I do not understand respiration at all. Are there any online resources that can help explain it - especially the Krebs' cycle??

Thanks!

You can google Kreb's cycle and see what comes up in the way of animation tutorials. Here's one:

I did a quick search with "krebs cycle respiration" as the search string.

There are *lots* of good sites with pictures, diagrams and text (wikipedia too!).

Do you have a specific part you don't *get*?

Here's one:

http://www.phschool.com/science/biology_place/biocoach/cellresp/krebs.html

That link is to to the Krebs cycle (click on Practice in the upper right-hand side and you can practice with the animation). To the left, you'll see a menu that's all about cellular respiration. Good luck!

Thanks everyone!!! I just got done taking my last midterm - Chemistry at 8 pm! I'm beat. I had 4 exams this week - Microbiology (at 6 am no less), A&P, Chem and an Art History course I'm taking. I work in a job that usually more than full time and I am now beat! I'm waiting for them to post the key to the Chemistry test to see how I did.

I really appreciate the help!

Sarah
