Okay, this is an nuts in a freaky way:

I received a confirmation email for my application stating the GPA they were using to compute my standing.... well, surprise surprise, they sent me 2 emails: one of another applicant (complete with the name and address), whose GPA is around 0.37 points greater than mine!

    Sweet.

Been a month since this email. Still dream about this applicant. So tempted to stallk this person! So wrong on so many levels.

    Two more months!

    if it werent for allnurses...

The only consilation is that you have a time projection. I don't know when these people are going to call and IF they are going to call.
I stay up alllllll night just looking up stuff on google, trying to find anything about the school since i can't sleep and the terrible thing is that i have to be up at 6 in the morning to go to work. I just sit up worrying and worrying and worrying some more.

Im telling you, when this is all over im going to congress and starting a law against making nursing student hopefuls wait!

Wow. I didn't realize that this thread would be so popular. That certainly lifts my spirits. Now I know I’m not the only Google freak! I love you Mystiqx!!!

Mystiqx - You have *such* a good sense of personality and excellent sense of humor. WHEN you get your interview, I’m sure they will see that!

If it's any consolation (though I doubt it will be) - I almost didn’t graduate high school (I had a 2.1) and (though I am embarrassed to admit), I got an 800 on my SAT (most of which was jut writing my name ). After high school, I went to CC and did much better (my home life changed dramatically after my brother passed and my mother divorced my stepfather - a real a**hole; (NOTE: I am not saying that my brother was the reason for me not doing well in HS, but b/c much of my time was spent helping my mother take care of him, I was pretty dysthymic most of the time. It very sad to watch your brother deteriorate like that - very painful to even write about, so I will leave it at that).

Anyway, in CC my GPA shot to a 3.4. I got VERY involved in academic stuff etc. And I ended up transferring to UCLA!!

My point is that even though you have lots of screw-up's in your past, if they see improvement, it's tells them a lot (IMHO, anyway). I hope they think the same way I do.

I don’t know you, but I can tell you are passionate and I think you (like all of us, once we get enough experience) will be an excellent nurse. It's easy for me to say "Don’t worry - you'll get in", but I really think you will.

BTW, I like your law. My sister just graduated form law school...I'll send her a proposal.:chuckle

Hey Jewels thanks for the vote of confidence, I really appreciate it. You story sounds a little like mine, when i attended my CC i did stellar, my last semester i started struggling i think because i must have realised at some point that i didn't want to go to med school. Its what my parents wanted so i couldn't argue. Then i transfered to my uni and it was a disaster, to top it off my grandmother who raised me in the caribbean had a relapse in her cancer. SHe went into a coma the night before my bio finial and passed away the day after school finished. I understand about you and your brother, its hard to talk about my gran she raised me and i was very attached to her.

Its the end of the week and no phone call, so we will see what next week brings. I will do my best to keep my hopes and spirits up.

Now we return to our regularly scheduled program of nutty things obsessed pre-nursing students do.....

OK this one is a kicker, I'm a HUGEEEEEE bookworm, i LOVE reading and collecting books, i just like going to Barnes and Nobles and standing among the stacks and just feeling the energy from the books ( Weirddddd I Know) anyway, know what I do? I go find the nursing section and stand there staring longingly at the nursing books during my lunch break at work. I'll stare at the NCLEX books, the reference books, sometimes i even peek in them and then put them back right quick cause i don't want to jinx myself. I even found the ISBN number for one of the text books my school is using and i searched it on every bookstore website i knew just to stare at it.

    ugh...SICK!!!!! :chuckle:chuckle

Um, no! NOT weird. I just love being in the book store. There are so many I want to read, but I never have time to finish them. It makes me feel like a slacker....

I think that's what I'll do tonight...go and look at nursing books. . As I'm flipping the pages, I'll think of you....

Teeheee, hey i forget did you apply to a 2yr ADN program or an accelerated BSN program. Mine is two years, hospital based and private, in NY all the city community colleges look at GPA alone and they want nothing less than a 3.7 to get in some even want 4.0 i don't have that, i have damn near 200 credits!!! The school I applied too takes GPA, NLN scores, recommendations, personal statement and experience into consideration, so I am praying that what I lack in GPA and transcript the rest of it will out shine it. The school has a bridge with another nursing program at a uni to start taking some BSN nursing courses as electives I think, so that when you are done it will only take you a year to get the BSN. I think thats how it works, well at least thats what they say on the website and at the open house. Hows about yours, I see you are in Cali, hows the weather, i swear mother nature is going through menopause over here. Yesterday it was damn near 60 degrees (hot flashes anybody?? ) and now today its a freaking blizzard. what the heck??!! :trout:

Let us know how its going so we can live vicariously though you and be even more nutty tee hee oh and MC Hammer dance for you again for getting in!!!!!!! :hatparty:

Hey there caeiluna, no news today yet. An entire week gone by and nothing, its very disheartening but im trying to keep my hope and spirits up.

Sorry you had to go to class in this nastiness today. How is A+P II? I took it last summer at city tech, had an excellent teacher, i could have gotten a better grade than i did but i was so discourged with everthing i sorta stopped trying, i still passed but i could have done better, got a B but oh well. I had work today but i only work half days on friday, travelled alllll the way to brooklyn after work to make my hair appt (yes i know...madness) got there and my stylist called out sick and nobody called me to tell me. I was too cold to get mad, so i just went home, i'll get it done on sunday. Then had to travel allllll the way back to queens to get home. sigh. At least the travel time gave me time to read and i didn't think about school.

I went to hunter the one on 68th street for a couple of classes, seems like everyone on the forum is applying there, I only know of one person on here applying to Beth Israel but im sure they got an insane amount of applications, last year they got 800 applications for 133 seats i think it was. I just hope they give me a chance.
