I'm going crazy...I WANT classes to start

OK, I know I'm just plain nuts - but I am going stir crazy. I have already taken down my Christmas tree, cleaned the whole house, got the exercise equipment all set back up (Mom was staying in that room during her visit), and I have reorganized my pantry. I have been updating my music collection tags, I am now looking at organizing the cupboards under the sinks and thinking of alphabetizing my spices (already labeled). HELP ME! My classes don't start until January 19th and I am wishing they started tomorrow - anyone else?

PS. I am on Ch 2 of my Chem and Ch 4 of my AP textbook already and working my way through 4 chem help books (dummies, studysolver, etc) at the same time.

back2thebooks - Great Job!!! Isn't it a great sense of accomplishment, now you can do your classes with peace of mind (about the house anyway, lol) and look at your nice paint job and smile. :yeah: I don't take procrastination into account, it doesn't exist in my universe... ok, I live in denial. :p

I switched from loose leaf to Cornell Method sheets that I print out on my computer. I don't know if I am using them correctly but it has cut down on the pile of notes I make (from 21-21 pages/chapter to about 12-14). I also decided this semester to actually highlight *in* my textbook. I am totally anal about writing in books, I hate to even see a page bent, but I'm taking Chem and A&PI this semester and decided it was worth it to me to 'ruin' these books if it helps me get an A.

How do you like the Cornell Method? I just started reading up on it and it looks quiet confusing

I haven't figured it out completely, but I found the templates online and saved one to my comp and print out as many as I need. They have about a 2" column on the left, lines on the right and a 2" border along the bottom. I then write down my titles or section heads on the right, put the term on the left and info on the right. I also put the supporting material on the right. You are supposed to summarize in the bottom, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I then go over the review or problem area at the end of the chapter and put anything I missed into the notes. You also put in any important info on the left, its for a 'quick reference' and that's what you should be studying from, easy to cover the big area and review off the left. As I said, I am still trying to figure it out, it was suggested in my 'Effective Study Skills' book and it is known to be a good method. Here's a link that explains it well pretty well - http://academic.cuesta.edu/acasupp/AS/618.htm

Hope that helps...

I just started watching the Marian Diamond lectures on A & P (youtube) and love them! Looks like my house really isnt getting a good scrubbin now..

I did manage to get the laundry/closets all straightened up.. I also cleaned and organized my 2 year old bedroom and crazy mess of a toy area. At least its not a total loss. :wink2:

Ok guys ... my classes will start tomorrow, 20 hours from now!

Oh Gosh, I so waited for this...!

Sand Dollar, I remember when I took A&P I, and it was wonderfull! there is so much information, it is so cool, everyone says that it is dificult, and hard, well... i didn't think so! It is all new info, and all fresh, and tons of it! but it is all so darn interesting that makes you want to study, want to read!

On my A&P we started with basic chemestry, worked that around, learned how to turn electrons stable, and then went to work with comopounds.

After chemestry, we learned, basic cell structure, all the organelles (i love the mitochoindria, dunno why???). Then we learned about the vesicles, and how they excrete things.

After cell we went and learned DNA, RNA, production, cell multiplication, electrolites, and receptor sites, protein, and protein gates, NA K Pump, and chemical balance!

then we started learning the tissues, and how they formed organs, the skin, and the different tissues in different parts of our body. (then again we had to accumulate the knowledge because we had to know the difference in cells, and fibers, and lipids, and layers, so we could tell the difference from one tissue to another! so we needed to have in mind ALL the previous material, KEEP ALL YOUR NOTES )

After that, we went to learn the bones, ALL of them, and had to know the names of all of them (I used to get in the class about 30 minutes early, so i could touch the bones, and remember the names!) the bones were easy, (then again we had to accumulate the knowledge because we had to know the difference in cells, and fibers, and lipids, and layers, so we could tell the difference from one tissue to another! so we needed to have in mind ALL the previous material, KEEP ALL YOUR NOTES )** even though muscle tissue and bone tissue are different, you can still link the information that you learned to better understand the upcoming subject!

I would have to say, that bones was the easiest subject on A&P, because physiologicaly they are not hard to understand, just add some memory for the bone names and you got it all!

Now after you build the base, you'll start learning the systems, which is cool, the most painful one was the Endrocrine, but the rest was easier!!! neuro was awesome!!!

Cardio is awesome, you learn so much about the blood cells, the veins, and arteries, and on this subject, you will see a lot of previous info, such as cell structure, and receptor sites, ATP, active and passive transport, and the heart, oh it is so amazing I could be typing for hours here about neuro and the cardio, (and i know just a tiny bit of it!)

The GI, and other systems are also cool!

You are going to have so much fun on A&P, that was by far the BEST class that I have taken!!! it is not a monster at all, it is a lot of info, not that easy, but is amazingly extra interesting!

Well Sand Dollar, i kinda broke it down to you what I think of A&P, i am sure you will love it!

On a side note: - i have my shoes ready to go, my uniform ready, my bag set, even made lunch for the whole week (kungpao chicken) - without carbs so i can lose the weight!

ah, i cleaned my garage, organized it, and put all the stuff up in the attic!

Csantos - I have been thinking of you everyday, counting down until tomorrow - lol.

I am really excited about A&P too, I love all the info and I am looking forward to it. The science is just too cool! Good for you about the garage, now you won't even have to think about that during school. I am SO excited for you!! Don't forget, I want at least a little blurb how it went tomorrow. :)

Remember, try and get SOME sleep, its gonna be hard, but relax your mind before bed, maybe read a book or magazine and it will all be well. Good luck!! :yeah:

So class starts in about a week and I am really excited but my A&P teacher just posted the syllabus!! OMG that class looks crazy, now I am nervous

I wish my teacher would post the syllabus! I've been checking frequently. Well, maybe I don't want him to....it may add to the anxiousness!
