I DID IT!!!!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Well peers I've done it; I submitted my application to a nursing program today. I've been a member on this thread for about two years. I've read countless threads about people who have gone down this same road. Oh how I've wanted admissions for so many ppl whose stories were like mine. The excitement of finding out if they were accepted was so joyous. The lows of reading that someone wasn't accepted made me really feel for them. It's such an emotional roller coaster as you wait your fate. Well now it's my turn......who else is in the same boat??? Let's wait it out together.....:) Here's to the

"Fall 2013" nursing students!!!!!

Hello Friendly Jane!!!

Happy New Year everyone! I'm in the same boat as most of you all :) I submitted my app to my first nursing school Nov. 1 with interviews in Feb and final admission decisions by April 1st (talk about a drawn out anxious process) I'm happy to have found this thread and look forward to waiting it out with everyone else!

I am so glad my schools don't conduct interviews. I always find myself flustered and stumbling over my words. Sometimes I can't think of what word to use or I feel like I am repeating myself almost as if my vocabulary has been reduced to 10 words. Smh.

Specializes in Endocrinology, hopefully.

Oh, I WISH mine had an interview process! I can talk to a brick wall, but... Back in 2001 when I was in school I was FAR too immature and my cumulative GPA was (I'm so embarrassed to say this!) a 0.63. After 2 semesters back in school-- starting in 2011-- I've gotten it up to a 2.7 and after the spring semester, if all goes as I plan, I'll be up to a 3.7. I would LOVE an opportunity to explain just how much I've changed and matured since my teenage/early 20s days! I worry SO much that I might not get in based on my lack of judgment as a youth!

Glad you dropped by Driven2012!!! :)

I just applied today to an ABSN after taking the Kaplan. I have a 3.9 and received a 79 on the Kaplan. I have one class left(Pathophysiology), and I will find out in March if I made it. I am just sick that one test can dictate entrance. I almost had a coronary when I received my 79, but the testing center said that most scored between 75 to 85. I now have to wait two months, so I would love to join you all as we WAIT 'im'patiently.

Don't feel bad, I went to a large university right out of highschool years ago, I went for 2 semesters and barely attended class. I was immature and overwhelmed by the new, big college scene. I dropped out after 2 semesters with a 0.8 GPA! It was many years ago, and I'm happy to report that I've pulled my cumulative up to a 3.1 over the years, and after spring, I'm sure it'll be higher than that. Thankfully the program I am applying to doesn't look at cumulative, just my pre-req GPA, which is very good right now.

Same here! I am the WORST at interviews, I start stumbling over my words, and I sound like an uneducated dummy! I get all flustered, and start stuttering, and I just become a complete mess. So glad my school doesn't do interviews. Unfortunately, if I don't get accepted this fall for my ADN program, the BSN program I'll be applying to DOES do interviews, and they play a significant role in acceptance. Crossing my fingers I make it into my ADN program just to stay away from the interview for the BSN program, lol!

I hope you get into the ADN program too! Interviews can be extremely overwhelming and intimidating!!
Good luck to you! I've never taken Genetics, sounds a little intimidating but at the same time very interesting!

I have a prerequisite requirement of a "genetics component" and it cannot be fulfilled with micro or A&P. So my options were either a general bio class that would only very briefly cover genetics or taking a class focusing solely on genetics. I spoke with the instructor and got to look at the book before signing up and it looks really interesting. Hoping for a great class!

On another note, I see that a few of you ladies have 3 kiddos too :-)
