How's everyone's fall semester going?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Soooo, now that we are knee-deep in fall 2011, how's everyone feeling? I'm taking A&P II, Nutrition, Spanish I and College Algebra (:uhoh3:). I think except for the math, I'm kicking buttinski.

Anyone else?

Mine is going well. I've emerging from a lazy mode from spending my summer with AP 1,AP 2, and Chem II. So, now I am forced to focus on my last science prereq, Microbiology.

But my semester is going better as I found out that I made a 90 on my TEAS. I'm eagerly applying to schools.

I'm hitting Fundamentals of Chem w/ Lab, Human Bio w/ lab, Psychology and Nutrition. The Chem and Bio are pre-requs to AP I (which I plan to pair with Micro in the Spring).

Everything is going well, no tests or quizzes yet (started classes late because of the flooding here in the Albany, NY area).

I feel like I am keeping up with everyting. I work full time and go to school nights and weekends so I have full days every day.

I don't know about in your school, but I would think about taking micro and a&p together, especially if you work. They are both very in depth classes that require a lot of study time. We call them suicide twins on campus. Just wanted to say something. I know everybody is different, and learns differently. Good luck to you!

I'm taking Physiology (A&P are offered separately), health, lifespan psych, and weight lifting. I'm kicking butt in all, especially weight lifting! And I have a full time job.

We had our first exam in Physiology yesterday and I got an A but almost everyone else bombed. It really wasn't a matter of not being prepared for some people. They totally understood the concepts and processes but the way the questions were worded was tricky. I feel bad for my classmates, especially for the people in my study group that did bad. I know they knew the material but test taking seems to be a separate art.

I agree. I'm taking A&P II and Micro together and I've had to put a good number of hours just to know enough to follow the lecture well, and be prepared for the study cases (A&P). Fortunately my activities now are part time, so I have more flexible hours. Some of my classmates are working full time and it's not working for them, even when they're taking just one of the courses, not both at the same time.

;)

To all of you guys who are taking more than 3 classes you are my heroes!! Especially A&P and Micro together. Is it difficult to take this two guys at the same time? I may consider it.

Like I told the last person who posted this, it depends on you. These are both very in depth classes that require A LOT of study time. They are individually the core of the nursing program. They will forever be called suicide twins on our campus for a reason. If your not working and don't have kids it could work. Even those that don't work or have kids struggle sometimes. Depends on what you can give and how your study skills are.

I'm taking General Bio. which is a breeze. I'm taking Gen Psych and Stats both online and they are killing me! I swear I have nightmares about my TI 83 calculator and APA style papers! :uhoh3:

I think it really depends on the time you're able (and willing :D) to put there. Some of my classmates that work full-time are struggling with just one of the classes. Some people already disappeared (dropped the class).

I'm taking Intro and Dev Psyc. Intro is like a pre-req for Dev, but the 2nd one is much more easier. Isn't it crazy? :uhoh3:

I'm taking Psych, A&P I, and A&P II starts in the middle of next month. I'm just short of an A in A&P- 89.8 last time I checked. Boo. I'm Hopeful that I get there though, I really want an A. Psych so far has been easy- we have our first test coming up next week so I'll report back then.

Had my first test in development yesterday and got a 100. My micro test is tomorrow and I feel fairly confident.

I really hope you can break into that A. I know that feeling of barely making it to an A. I had to ask my A &P teacher what I needed to stop being a B student. She said that the lab report and the final exams are the biggest things. I guess daily assignments or tests can only carry you so far. So glad I listened though, got my A.

Good luck!

Congrats on your good grades, guys! Keep up the good work!:nurse:

I just got the results for my 1st tests. Everything went well with Stats, Intro to Psyc, and Micro. I got an 89 in A&P II. (1 point... !!!) I have Dev Psyc and A&P lab next week. "We can do it!":yeah:
