Help with Chemistry!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey everyone. I am only a few weeks into A&P 1 and doing well.. until of course we hit CHEMISTRY. Chapter 2 in my book is BRUTAL!!!!! My professor made us aware that our textbooks are actually for med. students (which is good and bad I suppose) so the book explains in very great detail the Chemistry portion of A&P. I have a test this Wednesday on the material and I have a mental block. I feel I know the vocab parts but I unfortunately have this horrible thing I do of wanting to understand things fully. Yeah I can tell you what an ion is but I have no idea what it does really or what it actually matters for.

I feel stupid as normally I am pretty good with science.. my question is- any advice/websites/books I could use to "get it" more? I record the lectures and will go over my notes I just hate not feeling fully prepared.

Thanks everyone :)

Could you be more specific as far as what you're struggling with?

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

I agree it would be easier to help if you said exactly what you were having a hard time with :) I'm surprised you don't have to take chemistry for your school because maybe it would have made it easier for you to have taken chemistry first.

I would say if you are struggling with something specific look on youtube. Sometimes there are animations or lectures to watch (that really helped me) Or you can just google for worksheets or quizes...or buy another brand of book you can read?

I have to take micro, but due to spots available I'm doing that next semester. Its only one chapter so I probably shouldn't put so much pressure on myself but I like to fully understand things. I'm more or less having trouble with all of it more or less, I feel like its going right over my head. I will YouTube and maybe just try the tutoring center. I kinda feel like I need it to be put in laymen's terms, if that is at all possible...lol

Thank you all for your help!

I would def trying going on Amazon and buying a different book if it is the certain book you think is hard to understand. Try breaking it down and rewriting it your self. That stuff can be hard, its not just you! Just take the time to break it down and go over it

what book are you using? We use Saldin-The Unity of Form and Function 5th edition. It explains thing very, very well!!

I, too, use youtube for some stuff. Especially once you get to cellular respiration!!
