  1. I have to take micro, but due to spots available I'm doing that next semester. Its only one chapter so I probably shouldn't put so much pressure on myself but I like to fully understand things. I'm more or less having trouble with all of it more or less, I feel like its going right over my head. I will YouTube and maybe just try the tutoring center. I kinda feel like I need it to be put in laymen's terms, if that is at all possible...lol Thank you all for your help!
  2. Hey everyone. I am only a few weeks into A&P 1 and doing well.. until of course we hit CHEMISTRY. Chapter 2 in my book is BRUTAL!!!!! My professor made us aware that our textbooks are actually for med. students (which is good and bad I suppose) so the book explains in very great detail the Chemistry portion of A&P. I have a test this Wednesday on the material and I have a mental block. I feel I know the vocab parts but I unfortunately have this horrible thing I do of wanting to understand things fully. Yeah I can tell you what an ion is but I have no idea what it does really or what it actually matters for. I feel stupid as normally I am pretty good with science.. my question is- any advice/websites/books I could use to "get it" more? I record the lectures and will go over my notes I just hate not feeling fully prepared. Thanks everyone :)
  3. Thank you for asking Lizzy, how nice of you. :) you could take both, or either one. Whichever you prefer! They aren't too long so I'd love if you took both just 1 as perspective from your work and 1 as your student experience. Thanks again!
  4. Thank you Gumby!! Also: Okay.. hahaha. I totally put Puss and not PUS. Total typo and someone pointed it out on their answer.. thank you whoever you are! I am a spelling freak and I can't believe I did this! Oh well, maybe tomorrow I can be perfect :)

  6. I'm sorry to hear that, you could fill out the nursing student one? Or just fill out what you can! Keep your head up, you'll have a job soon!
  7. Thank you so much! It may have just been overloaded momentarily. I appreciate your input so much!! :)
  8. hello all! i am happily addicted to this site, and only in my first semester of pre-reqs for nursing school! oh lord.. anyway: i am conducting an anonymous survey for my sociology class. the results will not be published, and i created the form using google docs. i cannot see who answered and would greatly appreciate your participation! i have two surveys; one for nurses and one for nursing students. nurses nursing students i would appreciate as much participation as you guys would allow as your insight would be so helpful to me as a new nursing student. thanks again!!

  10. Hey everyone! Sorry I'm just now posting it. Here is the link to my template (it's got some Chem stuff on it now.. ignore it! Unless of course something is wrong and you'd like to help a sister out..) Enjoy! *To print, put index cards in your printer then print ODD PAGES, then put cards in right order and print EVEN pages.* It should print correctly. If you have any problems, send me a message and I'd be glad to help! APVocabWordsCHP2Chemistry.doc
  11. Hi everyone! So I just discovered a few things that I really hope can help at least one of you! First of all I'd like to say I am in my first semester of pre-reqs, but have been a student for a few years (gen. ed classes, couldn't nail down a major!) So here we go! 1) PRINTING on index cards with your (ready for this?!) PRINTER!!! I consider myself very tech-savvy but didn't even think of this until someone suggested it to me. I've got a template made for word and it's formatted all nicely, so if anyone would like it, let me know and I'd be very happy to send it your way! 2) STUDYSTACK.COM - This website I just discovered tonight and it's seriously a GODSEND!! Basically you upload information you would put on an index card (and if you printed them, just copy and paste the info from your word document) and it will set them up for you in question and answer form. NOT ONLY can it do this, FOR FREE!!.. but it will create study stacks, word matches, crosswords, matching, and other puzzles/games (even hangman!) for you to do. I'm sure I'm not the only one who needs about 18 different ways to study in order to "get it" or not get bored! 3) GOOGLE!!! Even if my book explains something thoroughly and my teacher says something 18 times, I just have to see it or read it from someone else's words and it seems to *click* in my lil bitty brain! Anytime now that I don't understand something, I just Google this- define: put word here, and the definition comes up fast and it helps me finally understand. 4) Reading book ahead of time!! This is kind of common sense but up until now I had never done it. Before school started this semester I read all of the first chapters of my book, took my own notes (written down) then typed them up. I know I won't be able to do this always due to time constraints, but I will at least be able to skim and be familiar before class. That's all for now, and I feel like I'm bragging/tooting my own horn which I don't mean to sound like.. Just trying to be helpful and share my JOY for the technology I have been using :) Good luck to you all!
  12. You've always been a Nursing student, you don't need a paper to prove that! :) BUT: YAY!!!!!!! WAHOO!!!!!!!!! Now you're just a CLINICAL Nursing Student :)
  13. Don't feel bad. On my CPT I got a 40 on math, no joke. I have always been not the sharpest crayon when it came to math. I eventually "get it" but it takes me longer. I got a 105 on the english/reading portion, so I'm not totally dumb :) I am taking "Review of Math Fundamentals" and while I feel like a fifth grader, I know it will help me in the long run, especially next semester in Clinical Math! Just take it as a chance to get more practice in!
  14. Thank you so much! I think I am very similar to you as far as skills for the NLN go. I am VERY strong in Verbal/English but TERRIBLE at math! I eventually get it.. but it takes me probably 5 hours for every 1 hour a 'normal' student takes to learn something. I've always been that way. Oh well, I'll just have to push myself harder to learn math. I suppose I will get that book a.s.a.p and just carve out some time like any other class to study for. I'd rather be ahead than behind! Thank you very much for your advice, I greatly appreciate it! :)
  15. You both are very welcome! I know when I study, I like to see the information in many different ways. If either of you are taking A&P 1 this semester let me know! Maybe we can start a little online chat/study group :)
