  1. Thanks for your input. I was born and raised in Worcester and now live in a bordering town with my husband and 2 kids. Yes the area can be shady, but where the college itself is is pretty much lively Thursday through Saturday nights, lots of bars and clubs close by. The ghetto (or Main South as it is called around here) is about a mile away and stretches for a couple miles and yes it is ridden with druggies and what not. They have been trying to clean that area up for years. It's funny because Clark University and a super school and people come from all over the world to go there and it is located right smack in the middle of all of that. Anyway if you have any questions about what areas to atay out of, what areas are nice let me know.
  2. I'm curious to see what the salaries are like for lpn/lvn. Part of MA (eastern, central, western) Years of Exp. Ray Rate Thanks
  3. I am with you on figuring out how to balance it all! I work full time, I have 2 children, 1 thats starting 1st grade next week and an 18 month old in day care. My husband does alot of the things around the house now and also cooks because he is home at 1 in the afternoon as opposed to my 6 at night. I know he is not to excited about continuing this routine for the next 6 years or so, but I keep telling him it wil be worth it, not sure if he believes me!
  4. I need to take the test in the next few days in order to register for classes next week....Thanks though. It would probably good for me to take the lower math anyway just to get adjusted, seeing as though I haven't been in school in 14 years!
  5. So I need to take a math and english assesment test before I can register for classes and I'm going over the math part right now and ok I remember NOTHING  So I'll basically have to be in the lowest level of math because there will be no passing to get into a higher class
  6. I have to start at the very begining of college so I'm not sure what I have to take, I'm an going to take the placement test this week. I will be going (very)part time at night as I still need to work! Anyway how long did it take you if you went part time for the pre-reqs?
  7. Just wanted to let you know that nooo you are not the dumbest girl ever! I am 32 and just starting college! I wanted to "experience" life before I made up my mind...well 2 babes later, a house, a husband, I have finally made my choice! Oh and if you google TEAS study guide a bunch of things will come up
  8. I am thinking about doing this after...though I haven't even started LPN school yet...I would Def. need to be working some while in school, but I have a question....do any of you that are doing this or have done this have children? what ages? I have a 6 y/o and an 18 m/o right now but when I am done with all classes (Only taking 1 pre-req a semester right now) my kids will be 10 and 5. So I'm just wondering how you handle that?
  9. So do you all have a degree in another field?
  10. I am 31 and am hoping to start my pre-req's this fall. I have never been in college, but have a very good paying job regardless. I have always wanted to be a nurse but college wasn't for me way back when. Now I want to be an example to my children. Now if I can only get my husband on board instead of trying to figure out how to pay for it myself! These posts have been a great inspiration to me!
  11. I graduated from my CNA class last night and now the hunt for a new job is on! I'm just not sure what to put on my resume. I received my red cross nurse assistant card, and hha card. I have not yet taken the state test obviously since I just finishe yesterday. Also we did clinicals for 4 days so should I make a section for the clinical and title it clinical? then put where I did it and what I did? I shoould know this but hunestly I have been at my job for 10 years so there even though I have applied for other jobs, there has been no need to update it! Thanks for your help.
  12. I just finished my first week of clinicals and believe what they say when you are told class is nothing like the "real world" oh you need to practice the 7 principles of care always, but even our instructor told us, it's not going to be perfect lile it was when we were doing our skills. At our clinical site, the residents get bed baths 2x a day, in the morning and at night. Well after we helped them with dinner, took out 20 min-1/2 hr dinner, get them to the bathroom and in bed, they were all falling asleep. Most of them slept through the entire bed bath, I felt awfull having to turn them, and only having the bath blanket on them, when all they wanted to do was go to sleep. Anyway, yes the 1st day is nerve wracking, but the 2nd day you'll have it down.
  13. I have no advice but good luck! My skills testing are this week: Tues - Thursday and then clinicals the week after
  14. Thanks Thhis is just skills tests through the school so we can do our clinicals, it's 3 days of skills testing. I don't even think I'm going to be this nervous when it comes time to take the state test!
  15. That pretty much sums it up:uhoh21::uhoh21: I went in early today to practice, I don't know how much that helped:mad:
