  1. I am in the exact same boat! I hope you get a reply soon, especially since it will benefit me as well. Congrats on becoming a CNA. I passed my state exam on the 9th and it was very exciting!
  2. I passed my state exam (Minnesota) on Thursday, July 9, 2009! It was very exciting and such a relief to be done. The skills weren't nearly as bad as I thought they would be :) My skills were: Hand washing, dressing a client with an affected arm, ambulating, counting respiration (I didn't have to do pulse as well...is that normal?), and oral care. Now....I gotta make a new resume and start job hunting. Any tips for resumes/coverletters? Any suggestions for the Minneapolis/St. Paul area?
  3. Thank you for the replies!
  4. Thanks everyone! I did awesome on my written (73/75) and aced my skills (I had hand washing, measuring urinary output, transfer from bed to wheelchair, denture care, and bedpan use). Clinicals were rough. The facility was in poor condition and the staff had poor infection control, ethics, etiquette and pretty much all of the above. I enjoyed the experience because I know what NOT to do as a CNA :) Now I have my state testing this Thursday and I am FREAKING OUT!
  5. I just finished my CNA program and will be taking my state test later this week! I want to work as a CNA while going for my LPN. After I'm an LPN I wanted to work while doing a "bridge/pathway" for my RN. Everyone keeps telling me how STUPID I am for wanting to do this and that I should go straight for my RN. What are the pro's and con's of both paths? Any help is appreciated!
  6. I just finished up my CNA classes and clinicals last week and will be taking my state test on Thursday (*cross your fingers for me!*) My hope after becoming a CNA was to work for a little while and then start an LPN program here in the Twin Cities (MSP/St. Paul, MN). After becoming an LPN I was planning on doing a bridge program to get my RN. This, to me, seems like the most logical thing to do. Everyone that asks me what I plan on doing with my life always says the same thing, "Why do that? Just go straight for your RN!" or "That's just stupid, do your RN and test out as an LPN after the 1st year." Am I crazy for wanting to do the LPN and then RN? Thanks in advance!
  7. Hey everyone! I'm almost done with my CNA class :) We have our written and skills final tomorrow morning. I'm feeling very confident about the written and a little nervous about the skills portion. I was lucky enough to have an amazing instructor and did quite a bit of practice, so I should be okay. What I am TERRIFIED for is my clinicals that start on Tuesday. I will have clinicals on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6am-2pm. What should I expect? Should I be nervous? I feel like I have done really well in this class, so I'm not sure why I am so dang scared! Ahh! Someone please calm me down haha. Also, white scrubs are so hideous...am I right or what? Anyway...tips and suggestions for my first day are much appreciated. Also, your clinical stories would also be great. Thank you so much!
