grades?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I just finished my first semester of college as a pre-nursing student at a community college. My grades were:

A- human development (sort of like a psych class)

B-Statistics

B-Anatomy w/ Lab

B-English

I definitely slacked off this semester, so I got two B's in the nursing prereqs :( I'm determined to take as many classes as I can and get A's in all of them. If I get A's in the rest of my pre-reqs, will the 2 B's look really bad concerning that GPA?

HAS ANYONE GOT IN TO BSN NURSING PROGRAMS WITH 2 B's IN THEIR PRE-REQS?

I had mostly B's in my prereqs but I also had a few A's in there as well. Entry to nursing school isn't just about grades, you also have to know how to read/write/analyze well, do math reasonably well, and have a good grasp of the basic sciences. You'll be tested on these through an entrance exam. Try to keep your prerequisite GPA above a 3.5 and overall GPA above a 3.0 and you'll be generally competitive, but shoot for the stars... go for straight A's from here on out. Work on your time management and study skills (for greater efficiency) and you might really surprise yourself. You might not end up with all A's, but you very well might...

Don't worry about the B's. Be proud of yourself for doing so well, and keep up the great work! Two B's aren't going to kill your chances.

Two Bs will more than likely not hurt your chances. I even had a C in one pre-requisite, and I got into my local ADN program my 2nd time applying. I used the extra semester to take classes that I will need for most RN-to-BSN programs.

You will need to focus on doing well on every other prereq you have left over and take it seriously the first time. Like someone said earlier it is possible that you may have to take some kind of an entrance exam. With that you have to also study hard for the entrance exam if you need to take it for applying to schools.
