Grade in Anatomy and Physiology

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi all! I'm very much interested in applying to the nursing program this October, get accepted and start the program this January. Only problem is I received a C in Anatomy and Physiology II. I took it over the summer and am so disappointed in myself. I did take Anatomy and Physiology I over the fall and received an A-, but I just don't know what happened over the summer. It was very intense. I spoke to my advisor and she said "all hope is not lost" and that I just need to really study and aim for an 80%+ on the TEAS test. I will be taking Microbiology and Pathopysiology this fall (I can apply to the nursing program while taking these 2 classes). Has anyone gone through something similar like this? Is all hope not lost? Thanks in advance for your comments and help!

thanks all! I go to school in the DC/MD/VA area and my advisor told me last semester the average gpa was a 3.2 and TEAS test was an 80%. I am a little hopeful but still doubtful :(

What city exactly? I lived in VA when I was suppose to start my BSN but had to drop for personal reasons. With all my pre-reqs I had 1 C in Gen Chemistry. Everything else was. A's and B's while working two part time jobs. You never know what you are capable of until you push yourself to limit. Don't give up. Speak to the counselors for additional tips if possible.

I believe it depends on the nursing school you are trying to get into. Some schools are not as competitive as others and a C is good enough. Other schools wont even look at you with a C. Just make sure you research the program you are trying to get into and speak to people who are in the program or are well acquainted with the program. Just make sure you don't have the short end of the stick in the end.

This sounds a bit presumptuous of you to state that to the OP. Not only did I take A&P II during the summer a few years ago. I passed with a high B because I was determined to pass. I kept my same professor from the previous semester and study my butt off. Smh.

Anyhow OP, all hope is not loss. I am sure you will be fine. Find out your options about possibly taking the class again. Whether it will count for you or against your. And study as much as possible for the TEAS. Don't give up hope ad yet. Best wishes to you.

I took AP 1 and lab in the summer and passed both with an A. It can be done. The lecture was 12 weeks while the lab was 6 weeks. It can be done you just have to make sure you have a good professor and actually study.

Its going to depend on the school where you apply. I was accepted at a community college that used a point system based on grades in A&P I&II, college algebra and microbiology. You could get extra points based on your ACT score if you took it. If two people tied in points and only one could be accepted than it was who ever submitted the application first. The university where I took my prereqs was based on GPA. Last year the minimum GPA to be accepted was a 3.7. The community college only allowed you to retake a class once.

I made an A in Microbiology, a B in A&P2, and a C in A&P1 and got in on my first try. Not all is lost. Every nursing school has different requirements and criteria for admission. Just do what you can to make your application look better. I did well on the required reading test, and had my CNA, so that helped my application. Our GPA was pulled from only the classes required for the nursing program, and I had mostly A's and B's so while it was only a 3.2, it still got me in on my first try. Always depends on your competition too, I suppose. I'm in a rural town in Oklahoma so it isn't as bad as it would be if I were in the OKC or Tulsa metros.

I repeated Anatomy so F and A.

I got A in Physiology in my first attempt.

Why didn't you get an A than!!?? One would say your a bit presumptuous!

I was making a statement to correct you on calling the OP dumb because it was rude. Hence, the reason why I said it was presumptious of you to make that type of opinion. Further more, I refuse to explain my reason why I got a B and not an A. Nor will I entertain this conversation with you anymore. Smh.

Agreed. It's all about putting your mind to it and dedicating the time.

All hope is not lost! If you must retake the class make certain to check out ratemyprofessor and get a highly rated teacher. If you have to take just the one class to focus on then do that. Dont fall behind and study in the way that fits you best! Oh and dont let negative comments keep you down! Stay focused on your goals. Good luck!

I'm taking a and p 1 and have a 98.5. First time taking it and first semester back in school in ten years. It's possible if you do all of the required course work and study hard. I find it interesting and just "get it" and I'm very grateful for those two traits.
