Yep, I am seriously considering DCCCD.I really want Northlake. I went to El Centro before (not for nursing) and I don't think I can take parking downtown again. I am short only the NET and one prereq.

I wish they still had that accelerated program going.

I liked Northlake. It is in a nice quiet neighborhood. The people are

alot friendlier than EL Centro, IMHO.

Do you already have CPR card? I have read that it is needed for applying.

Do you know any place that have cheap CPR class?

Not yet....actually had one once and let it run out. I think most of them are around $65. El Centro has CPR classes as well. If you look at the continuing education classes, and not credit classes you should find it. The only problem there for myself is that I live in Arlington. I really don't want to be at El Centro before 8:00 AM.

I have to call around at different fire stations. YMCA also offers CPR classes, but you have to make sure it is not the basic CPR (as most YMCAs only offer the basic.)

Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?

Hello.

I am considering the DCCCD Nursing Program and from what I understand, DCCCD's Nursing Staff and their curriculum is tough on their students. I am curisous to know if any of you are willing to share whether you will be working a job while in nursing school or have another system of support. As I have been off and on with my decision to become a nurse over the past seven years...I have become very frustrated, but I cannot seem to shake the desire to become a nurse. What's holding me back at present is working full time and all of the wonderful expenses that come with it. :angryfire

If you have to work, then you have to work. I can certainly understand having to pay the bills.

I will probably have to work some myself while in nursing school.

I have many, many friends who went through the El Centro program. I also know many of the nursing professors (at least the ones that teach at El Centro). Yes, they are tough. That should not however dissuade you from attending the school or pursuing your dream.
