Confused about the steps to applying...

Hi all!

I will be finishing all my prerequisites in the summer semester of this year, and will finally be ready to apply to bsn programs. I have so many questions though...

I have heard that I need to get a physical, get a TB test, and get all my vaccinations up to date. What actual vaccinations do I need?

I live in San Diego but want to increase my chances of getting in the first time I send out applications, so I plan on applying to around 15-20 bsn programs in California and out of state. However, I have been reading that you have to have an in person interview with the dean of the program that is considering you? That will get expensive with plane tickets and hotels... do you really have to do interviews with every program?

If I plan on applying this fall, when should I take the TEAS test and have all of the above done by?

"have heard" is where the problem exists. Call the college you hope to attend and set up a time to meet with an advisor. It takes work. Go do it. No on here can tell you general requirements to applying because all schools are different.

1. Google each school you want to apply to.

2. Look at the admission requirements and application checklists. Each school is different.

3. Send your questions in an email to their admissions department or call and ask.

4. Don't rely on other people to do work for you for easy answers.

You may be able to get a lot of these answers from the college websites. The schools I applied to had the deadlines and requirement all on their sites.

Thanks guys! I did some research and found the answers to most of my questions.

The one thing that a cant find a definitive answer to is if I have to physically go to each school for an in person interview. That would totally ruin my plan of applying to a bunch of nursing programs across the U.S., plane tickets are expensive...

Anyone have any insight on that one?

That's going to depend on each school. Not all schools do interviews. None of the ones I'm applying to do, but there are plenty that have them. If you go to the websites there should be an email address for admission I'd shoot each school an email.
