APU ELM Fall 2015

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello!

I thought I'd get this thread started :)

I'm in the process of applying to APU and was wondering how everyone is doing with their applications.

Has anyone gone through the advising session yet?

@ missliliposh, that is great news :)!! I really hope we are all accepted and in the same cohort. Good luck with your interview, I am sure it'll be fine. Let us know how it goes!

I turned in my application on October 23 and I didn't get an interview email till 2 weeks after. I was interviewed at the Monrovia site on December 1st. I did the essay prompt, and then went upstairs to talk to professor Farr. She asked me why I want to be a nurse, then she started talking about the prerequisites and what I still need to take... I hold a BS in health Science from CSUF cum GPA of 3.57 and prerequisite GPA of 3.6. I HAD 3 years of volunteering experiences from kp and as a CCE and also as a caregiver for almost a year and half now.

Farr, said I still need to take my public speaking class because the Human communication 100 from csuf doesn't satisfy their curriculum. ..I am a bit frustrated because my friend who got in for fall 2015 at apu campus had csuf hcomm 100 for her public speaking and Professor Farr never mentioned anything to her about retaking it.

I am confuse and I want to email her about it. Farr didn't really ask me anything else other than made me sign the the prerequisites admission agreement for and briefly explained how the classes are going to be. After that she gave me a copy of it and asked if I had any questions. I asked what were my chances of getting in, no answer she said to wait till mid January because committee will meet Dec 12-13.

I am curious if my issue about retaking my public speaking class will affect my chances of getting accepted.

I don't think your chances will be too badly affected. I think those of us who have classes in progress/remaining will lose a couple points, but it shouldn't be anything too significant. I don't think you should be too frustrated because your friend didn't have to take the comm class. Did you see it written somewhere that your comm class would satisfy the requirement? Or were you just hoping it would be ok since it was ok for your friend? Maybe your friend was the lucky one to have the comm class suffice, instead of you being unlucky. Based on your GPA and experience in healthcare, I think you have a great chance to get accepted! and I hope everything works out well for you!

I think this is the final weeks of interviews! I can't wait for us to start hearing back about the results of our applications! Hopefully they come in soon. How is everyone doing?

Hi! I am starting to get nervous I guess! I do have a plan B, but I sure am hoping I won't need to go that route. I really hope they will let us know soon after they have their meeting...Christmas will be much more relaxing, whether accepted or not. At least we'll know.

Good luck to everyone.. please post if you hear anything!

Is that private message anything that the rest of the forum might want to know regarding updates?

The private message thing doesn't work very well? I gave my email address to jazzieP.

SoCalCNA nope, just wanted to be helpful and possibly calm jkaragan's mind about the situation. Nothing that the whole forum needs to know about.

Oh no nothing new... Still waiting.

Hey everyone! I finally found this forum! I just had my interview at Monrovia yesterday and I was informed that they will start making decisions this Friday! :nailbiting:

Good luck to everyone! I'm so nervous!

Hi everyone! I just received an acceptance email today to the San Diego campus for Fall 2015. Is anyone on the same boat? If you haven't gotten a response, I'm sure it's coming soon :)

I haven't committed myself to APU just yet, and I was wondering if anyone has heard about the program at SD? (rigor of courses, organization, preparation, etc.) Any and all insight will be helpful!
