Am I really trip'n?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello,

I just completed my Anatomy and Physiology 1 class, and I must say that I can finally ease my mind...Anyways, I was at a 90% average in the class before I failed my final exam with a 48%! It got to the point where my brain just did not want to function anymore becasue it took in so much information during this Fall semester. Since I failed the final it brought my final average to an 86%; after I saw my average I become semi-depress, overwhelmed with the thought of not good enough for Nursing School. Some may read this and say what they may...am I being hard on myself?

I know I'd be disappointed at my final grade after working so hard all semester and maintaining an A average. It would suck for all that hard work to end with a B. (I struggled to keep my A in A/P 2 and if I had missed 1 more question on the final I'd have ended up with a B too. I was lucky though!

Having said that, if you work your ass off and do well in the rest of your prereqs, I'm sure your chances of getting into a program are as good as they would have been if you had earned an A. B is still a great grade.

I would feel the same way you do as well, but a B is still a great grade to put towards your nursing program. A&P is tough and sometimes things happen that mess us up. Is there a way for you to retake the course? My college offers you two chances for A&P. I had an A average for a while myself, but it trickled on down to a B average because I couldn't seem to make any more A's on my exams. Having a B is still a good achievement because lots of people find A&P to be one of the biggest struggles during pre-reqs. Just focus on getting A's in the rest of your courses and you'll still have great chances of getting in. A B will not hurt you as bad as it seems! :) Best of luck to you!

@mjmoon and iridescent orchid: thank you so much for taking the time...i'm just hoping that my teacher curves the grade for good conduct and attendance in class (fingers-crossed). the money and the hard times studying just makes it so difficult for me to accept a b.

You're very welcome! I hope that your instructor will do that in your favor as well. I wish my instructors would do that. In high school, curving or rounding didn't seem like a big deal to them, but my instructors are always "if you have an 89.9 at the semester's end, that's what goes on your transcript." :o

I understand what you mean by the B. If I'm not accepted into the program for this Spring, I'll be retaking two of my classes to obtain A's in those instead of B's.
