A&P1 during Disney vacation or in the summer

Hello!

I'm new to the boards and so happy to have found this wealth of information. I was recently accepted into a BSN nursing program but decided financial it would be best to do all my sciences at our community college. I'm looking to apply again for Fall 2017. I'm 31 a mother of 3 children age 7, 4 and 18 months. Here is my dilemma I'm currently signed up for A&P1 this semester. Problem being we are taking a 2 week vacation to Disney next month. My professor agreed to give me an A&P makeup project for the 2 labs that would have missed. I'm under the impression that I will still need to have my laptop and spend 20 hours a week on homework while on vacation. Should I drop A&P1 until after vacation and take it in the summer? How bad is it taking the accelerated summer course? I'm so undecided.

Thanks for all of your help!

Congrats on your acceptance!

IMHO, 2 weeks is quite a bit of material to miss for A&P. If you are able to commit the missed time to studying while you're on vacation, then by all means. But if not, the summer class might be a better option.

Because of the amount and depth of instruction A&P covers, I'd recommend against missing a day of class (in fact, in the two years I've been going to school I haven't missed a class session), let alone two weeks of classes. Take it when you've got the time to devote to it; it forms the foundation of many of the more intensive classes like pathophysiology.

Yikes! I would not miss 2 weeks of A&P as that is a lot of information to miss and have to make up. Plus it's not much of a vacation if you are still spending 20-30 hours a week stressing over your A&P homework and studying. I'd personally wait and take it in the summer, even if it is accelerated, just so you can spend your time focusing on the work.

How important is the vacation to you. I understand it is important to your kids, but as others said, 2 weeks is a decent amount for AP, pretty much 1 chapter. If it was me and I had to do the vacation, I would find a student to record the lectures, and that's not counting the labs either.

I never missed a single one of my science courses. Two weeks is a long time! Have you considered going to Disney over summer? If that doesn't work, I would NOT miss two weeks of class and then spend a majority of your vacation studying. Let's face it, you probably will be too distracted and once you return, you will pay the price. As the saying goes, if you want to play, you've got to pay.

Also, keep in mind that summer classes can be grueling. You literally will eat, sleep and breathe A&P for six solid weeks and that may be tough with 3 kids. If it were me, I would postpone the vacay until summer! Take care and good luck!

That is a lot to miss! Plus, you probably won't feel up to studying... my husband and I took four of our five (ages 4-13, left the 2 yr old with Grandma) over the summer for four days, and it was exhausting! Back in our hotel room, all I wanted to do was sleep.
