Hello everyone, I am new allnurses.com. I am glad to see that there is a site where I can communicate with nurses from all over. I have a question. I recently applied to St joseph Hospital school of nursing located at 8th girard ave in philadelphia, PA. It is an accelerated one year RN program. I am somewhat concerned because I don't know much about the school. They don't even have a website. I wm currently working on prequisites to start the program in november. It is fairly new and just opened up about three years ago. I would love to get the input of someone that knows about the program or has graduated from it...thanks a lot.

The application fee is a little pricey, but I guess it's worth it if you get in. Has anyone else submitted an application for the 2009 class? I was wondering if anyone has gotten a call back for an interview....Also I was wondering what were peoples plans for paying the 23,000 tuition and surviving the year without working.:D

So I just joined this site and find you discussion on St. Joseph very interesting since I am going for my interview today. The program may have its ups and downs but you need to look at the positives it is one year and the tuition is not that high. I have been looking into many nursing schools in the area and it is very competitive to get into any of them. I have BA Slippery Rock University and realize that all programs are going to be unorganized at times. It is what you make of any school ask questions and make them give you your money's worth. As for the tuition the I have been saving up the program does not start until Nov so that gives you a few months I am also looking into so student loans to help get by. Does anyone know what type of grade point average and NET score St josephs is looking for? I scored about average in both theses areas. Im not sure how competitive the program really is. I think I would be a little upset if I paid 150.00 and finished all of there prequisites for nothing.:wink2:

I got an 85% over all on my Net test. I have the teas test for Frankford hospital on Wed does any one have any advise on that test?

Hi, I was heard about this program also, but was wondering how I could get more information about it. I can not seem to find anything online. Would you be able to help me. Also, did you decide to apply there?

I:smokin: am so trying to relax but I just keep thinking about saint jospeh's hospital school of nursing. I applied there and plan to attend the next class but I feel a tad bit discouraged. Does anybody who applied there feel the dame as I do. I heard the school was a piece of crap and disorganized! For 18K and stress and study I want to pass MY BOARDS!!!!!! and be a NURSE* I wanted to know could i speak with someone who attended the school already so I can get some advice first hand..this would be VERY helpful..thanx alot!:yeah:

Hey, I've heard some of the same things, But I also heard that things are much better now. The school is going through more efforts in trying to accept students that will do well in the program. I think that was one of the reasons why they extended the application process from july to nov. For the most part I believe the school is what you make of it. I also heard from a school mate that a friend her has graduated from the program and has a great job now. On your post you say that the tuition is 18,000 have they lowered it? If so that would be wonderful!:specs: Right now I am worried about being accepted or not.Have you heard anything about when they would be sending acceptance letters out? thanx

The application fee is hefty- but the thought of being done in a year starting in March is really attractive. But the deadline is in a week! Does anyone know if recommendations can arrive a little after the deadline?
