and what did they do to Scranton Tech and Central High School? Who plays the thanksgiving football game now since the schools were combined? I also got my LPN from Lackawanna area vo tech. Now I am an RN.
I have no clue about the football games, because I wasn't born up here. I'm originally from Carbon County, a little town called Lansford. Nice to see another Career Tech grad tho.
Scranton is making a comeback tho. Parks are nice and green and clean, they even want to do a handicapped-accessable treehouse in Nay Aug now. Downtown is being re-vitalized, and it's a fairly nice place to live now. I'm still moving to FL in Sept or Oct tho! LOL

they have been redoing downtown for the past thirty years. The mall is nice, but I miss all the old stores. Change is hard. When I was a kid the thanksgiving game was a biggy between Central and Tech. The only thing still there is Coney Island and a pizza place I forget the name that has the best pizza. Oh, I think the fish place is there "Coopers" great Lobster tails. I'm not sure where carbon county is. I lived in Lake Ariel, Honesdale, Taylor, Scranton, Dunmore. Still have family in Dunmore and Taylor. When I was a teenager we use to hang out at Nay Aug Park but some of the hippies as they were called back then fed the animals dope. It was a nice Park/ Zoo to take your kids too on a Sunday. The pool was shaped like a lake and called Lake Lincoln. It was huge. Oh well things change. Where are you working. When I graduated the LPN program they weren't letting us into the hospitals to work. When I was there I worked at the Jewish Home. CMC is still there. I stopped there when I was back but that also changed a lot. Well I guess I got a little winded. So where are you working? Are you actually in Scranton?

I live in North Scranton, near the Glider Diner. Places i've worked at include the Jewish Home, Mountain Rest, and i did clinical at CMC and Moses Taylor. Mercy hosp is still here also. Now I do agency thru NurseFinders, and have been to Lackawanna Health Care Center, St. Mary's Villa, East Mtn Manor in W/B, the Luzerne County Home, and a few other smaller places.
The zoo is still there, and every year they have a holiday light display for Christmas at Nay Aug that is fantastic. The mall is nice, but I can't say I remember the old stores. I heard it was really cool tho.

Lansford, where I grew up is down in the "other" coal regions, about an hour south of here. A bunch of small towns like Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Tamaqua and Coaldale are in that area. It's nice up here, but I'm moving to FL to be closer to my baby sister this fall. We lost Mom last October, so it just makes sense.

Oh, pizza place is Buono Pizza, and yeah, it IS the best! Coopers is a nice place, great atmosphere, but last time I had their lobster tails, they were dry and rubbery. Might have been a new cook tho. They're usually quite good!

It sure is nice to hear from some one from home. or at least staying there. The hill section has really changed, that used to be the elite area. If I'm not mistaken that isn't the best part of town. I went to North Scranton Junior High when we lived in Viewmont Village. We lived in there when they were brand new and the Viewmont Mall was new. That is going back. There were a few big stores like the Globe Store, Scranton Dry Goods and many more. They were owned by a lot of the Jewish population that owned all the mansions up in the Hill section. I went to Prescott Elementry when it first opened. Before I went to Albuquerque I owned a house on Madison, they tore it down and built a car wash. I would never go back there wish I didn't go even for the short time that I did.

I ate at the Glider Diner as a kid. Also did my LPN clinicals at CMC and spent many months as a pt. on the ortho floor when Dr. Stienbach was still there I heard he died of Cancer, too bad that was one great doc, Stiendel was ok too, but did't
have the same bed side manner. Spent a few months at allied's rehab center. that was a long time ago. can't quite remember the doc's name started with an A, he was ok.

I'm a Pennsylvania nurse living and working in England. Hopefully I'll get back to the Lehigh Valley in the next couple of years. There are some great hospitals there.
