    Looking For Other Pa Nurses!!!!

I:monkeydance: ate at the Glider Diner as a kid. Also did my LPN clinicals at CMC and spent many months as a pt. on the ortho floor when Dr. Stienbach was still there I heard he died of Cancer, too bad that was one great doc, Stiendel was ok too, but did't have the same bed side manner. Spent a few months at allied's rehab center. that was a long time ago. can't quite remember the doc's name started with an A, he was ok.

Dealing with a patient who verbally threatens you

I'm sorry I must be missing something. at first he just threatened to sue you he didn't threaten you with bodily harm. It seems your reaction is what triggered him with the foul mouth. Maybe you just over reacted a little. People often under stress say things they don't really mean. The verbal abuse shouldn't be tolerated. But, as professionals we should have a little more understanding. just my 2 cents.
  4. I just want to ask every one if and how I could possibly get back into med/surg? I have been out of nursing for awhile due to some craziness in my life and now I would like to get back to it but am finding most jobs are with travel companies who want recent experience or the hospitals want recent experience. Any one have any ideas? Please:rotfl:

    Looking For Other Pa Nurses!!!!

It sure is nice to hear from some one from home. or at least staying there. The hill section has really changed, that used to be the elite area. If I'm not mistaken that isn't the best part of town. I went to North Scranton Junior High when we lived in Viewmont Village. We lived in there when they were brand new and the Viewmont Mall was new. That is going back. There were a few big stores like the Globe Store, Scranton Dry Goods and many more. They were owned by a lot of the Jewish population that owned all the mansions up in the Hill section. I went to Prescott Elementry when it first opened. Before I went to Albuquerque I owned a house on Madison, they tore it down and built a car wash. I would never go back there wish I didn't go even for the short time that I did.

    Looking For Other Pa Nurses!!!!

they have been redoing downtown for the past thirty years. The mall is nice, but I miss all the old stores. Change is hard. When I was a kid the thanksgiving game was a biggy between Central and Tech. The only thing still there is Coney Island and a pizza place I forget the name that has the best pizza. Oh, I think the fish place is there "Coopers" great Lobster tails. I'm not sure where carbon county is. I lived in Lake Ariel, Honesdale, Taylor, Scranton, Dunmore. Still have family in Dunmore and Taylor. When I was a teenager we use to hang out at Nay Aug Park but some of the hippies as they were called back then fed the animals dope. It was a nice Park/ Zoo to take your kids too on a Sunday. The pool was shaped like a lake and called Lake Lincoln. It was huge. Oh well things change. Where are you working. When I graduated the LPN program they weren't letting us into the hospitals to work. When I was there I worked at the Jewish Home. CMC is still there. I stopped there when I was back but that also changed a lot. Well I guess I got a little winded. So where are you working? Are you actually in Scranton?

    apollo vs gallup

most hospitals have tuition reimbursment. But you have to pay first. some hospitals after school offer tuition forgiveness. shop around. I lived in Albuquerque for 11 years and loved it. UNM is great the hospital is fantastic. Could never get better clinicals then there. the experience would be a valuable asset.

Is WI racially diverse and a good place to live?

They also thought I was not white because I had a tan. Some one asked me " How did you get that colored skin"? my reply "The sun" Ha Ha it's not really funny.

Is WI racially diverse and a good place to live?

I am in a small town/city. Moved here because family was here. Been forced to move into a place that has a bad reputation. Because I am not working, because I couldn't get a nursing job and living in this place I am not considered "a Lady" I am an older nurse. people have actually come to me and wanted to "save" me from my sins. I don't drink, lie, steal or sleep around. What sins they are talking about I will never know. I think they actually think because I am not married that I must be loose. Now that I don't know any one I can't get out of this situation. It is small town USA. I have worked as a nurse in LTC and acute care for the past 25 years. That is all that I have done. But if any one knows where I can get a job I would appreciate it.
  14. I agree. There doesn't seem to be any real answers. Why would we want to bring out the worst in people? prevention or catching the disease early is always easier to treat. But, for decades everyone has turned the other way when they could have done something about it and may have even contributed to the problem. Now we want a quick fix, and there isn't one. If the professionals taking care of these people don't want them or don't like them, all they are doing is making the problem worse. Now there are some professional that just want the almighty buck they bring in. Granted we all need to get paid, but I have seen "professionals" actually do things to these people to keep them at their mercy.

    LTC careplans

I have worked in Many LTC facilities. I remember when the MDS's were initiated. Some places just plug in their own data, not always factual but they made everything jive. I overheard an MDS cordinator tell an LPN to just copy what the day nurse wrote. Other facilities actually wanted the information to be acurate and the only place to get that info was from the nursing staff. Most places that I worked at had initial careplans that the admitting nurse initiated. all the other care plans are to be added to when ever a nurse feels something should be on there. Some places still have the nurses do the paper MDS and then the cordinator plugs it into the computer. of coarse she gets the credit for bringing in the dollars. HA HA
