  1. I'm sorry I must be missing something. at first he just threatened to sue you he didn't threaten you with bodily harm. It seems your reaction is what triggered him with the foul mouth. Maybe you just over reacted a little. People often under stress say things they don't really mean. The verbal abuse shouldn't be tolerated. But, as professionals we should have a little more understanding. just my 2 cents.
  2. I just want to ask every one if and how I could possibly get back into med/surg? I have been out of nursing for awhile due to some craziness in my life and now I would like to get back to it but am finding most jobs are with travel companies who want recent experience or the hospitals want recent experience. Any one have any ideas? Please:rotfl:
  3. most hospitals have tuition reimbursment. But you have to pay first. some hospitals after school offer tuition forgiveness. shop around. I lived in Albuquerque for 11 years and loved it. UNM is great the hospital is fantastic. Could never get better clinicals then there. the experience would be a valuable asset.
  4. They also thought I was not white because I had a tan. Some one asked me " How did you get that colored skin"? my reply "The sun" Ha Ha it's not really funny.
  5. I am originalloy from PA. they had ice storms. I can handle the cold, I have a problem handling the cold people at times.
  6. I am in a small town/city. Moved here because family was here. Been forced to move into a place that has a bad reputation. Because I am not working, because I couldn't get a nursing job and living in this place I am not considered "a Lady" I am an older nurse. people have actually come to me and wanted to "save" me from my sins. I don't drink, lie, steal or sleep around. What sins they are talking about I will never know. I think they actually think because I am not married that I must be loose. Now that I don't know any one I can't get out of this situation. It is small town USA. I have worked as a nurse in LTC and acute care for the past 25 years. That is all that I have done. But if any one knows where I can get a job I would appreciate it.
  7. I agree. There doesn't seem to be any real answers. Why would we want to bring out the worst in people? prevention or catching the disease early is always easier to treat. But, for decades everyone has turned the other way when they could have done something about it and may have even contributed to the problem. Now we want a quick fix, and there isn't one. If the professionals taking care of these people don't want them or don't like them, all they are doing is making the problem worse. Now there are some professional that just want the almighty buck they bring in. Granted we all need to get paid, but I have seen "professionals" actually do things to these people to keep them at their mercy.
  8. I agree, I don't fit in and am actually being made fun of for being here. Can't get work and am being made to look like I am a prostitute because I am not working. and I don't DRINK

I have worked in Many LTC facilities. I remember when the MDS's were initiated. Some places just plug in their own data, not always factual but they made everything jive. I overheard an MDS cordinator tell an LPN to just copy what the day nurse wrote. Other facilities actually wanted the information to be acurate and the only place to get that info was from the nursing staff. Most places that I worked at had initial careplans that the admitting nurse initiated. all the other care plans are to be added to when ever a nurse feels something should be on there. Some places still have the nurses do the paper MDS and then the cordinator plugs it into the computer. of coorifice she gets the credit for bringing in the dollars. HA HA
  10. I still think these people are just not being treated properly. Their lives are chaiotic for a reason and blaming them isn't going to change that. Look around our world is chaotic and to expect some one that is being abused by this society to know how to cope/function in it is looking though the proverbial rose colored glasses.
  11. I had a pt. with this many years ago during my clinicals. He bragged about it and stated he was there because he had committed murder. He was in with depressed pts.and all the other non-violent pts. I found this scary because he was always going off.
  12. this is a rural area also. money is a big issue.
  13. I already checked around, there just isn't anything.
  14. Thanks, it has a lot to do with the location I am in.
  15. unfortunately she isn't getting any kind of help and is fumbling around on her own.
