Got a chance to meet Patty Jo and chat a few minutes today at the convention. Always nice to put a face with a name.
A great time was had with The Philly Phanitic, soft pretzels and Tastycakes at pour Philly fest yesterday afternoon then the 100th Gala REception was at a 5 star resteraunt with tuxedo gloved wait staff, gourmet food stations and a 7 piece band. Those nurses ROCKED. Now I know the meaning of white glove service!
Even Governor Rendell droped in to bring greetings for our anniversary.
It was a great night! One of my BSN instructors was honored as an Anna Brobson Fellow, it was great to see her recognized for her contributions to nursing. Sorry to have missed you Karen. I had to cut out early, had a clinical group in the hospital at 7 AM Saturday so I left around 10. I did get the calendar for my daughter who will be starting nursing school in Aug. I think I'll also get her the centennial book, The nursing history is great!

So sorry I missed the event! How was it?
What a great weekend! I wish everyone could have heard Bernice Buresh talk : her book (with Suzanne Gordon) From Silence to Voice: What Nurses Know and Must Communicate to the Public, is an excellent resource for all of us. All the speakers were informative and thought-provoking. Well worth the drive to the east!
As Karen already wrote, the banquet on Friday night was awesome. Then Saturday night was the awards banquet, along with scholarships from the Nursing Foundation. How impressive were those students? Wow! And it was inspiring to hear the work being done by the award winners.
One of the best things about these conventions is seeing old friends and meeting new ones. It was a pleasure to meet Karen in person.
I think we can all be pretty proud of the nurses in Pennsylvania. Listening to the speakers and the work being done by members proves to me yet again that we can accomplish much to advance the practice of nursing and the status of nurses. Hope to see many PA nurses next year!
