Vanderbilt Nurse Residency 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

The application for the Vanderbilt nurse residency for February 2015 will open in August. Who all is applying? Does anyone have advice for those of us who will be applying?

Where did the tour go?

All around the different hospitals but I had to end it early. Got hungry.

Is anyone interviewing later this month? Like, the 24th? Or has anyone else interviewed yet??

I interview the 28th!!! Flying out from Cali. Can't wait!

Craig,

Did you end up giving them a portfolio? If so, was it well received?

I brought a hard copy of an updated resume and Ms. Fargo told me that they accept no paper so I would email anything you want them to see before your interview. That being said they didn't have any of my submitted files pulled up on the screen during the interview so I just found ways to comment on my recent updates into my answers.

CraigSoon2BeBSN_RN Thanks for the response, I didn't realize you already did :)

Good luck to everyone interviewing soon, and fingers crossed for you Craig! I interview on the 21st at 2pm. I fly in that morning and plan to do the tour before I interview- getting nervous as I prepare. That's my biggest concern- being too nervous-because this is my dream position! It's been a year now almost since I graduated so it's easy to forget clinical experiences in that time. I'm hoping to draw from my summer as a camp nurse more recently!

Hey Guys!

I just found this feed. I actually had an interview on October 8 for the CVICU as well @CraigSoon2BeBSN_RN! I was at 9am. Does anyone know how many people they accept into each program? I'm just waiting now until I guess the first week of December to hear back? Does anyone have different information?

Hey Sam, congrats on completing your interview. How did it go for you?

I heard from Ms. Fargo that the amount of people accepted to each unit is yet to be decided based on need and that we would hear AT LEAST by the first week of December. I anticipate we may hear something a bit sooner, especially if they know they have a position for us. Did the panel give you any idea of how many new hires the CVICU would be taking on?

I think it went well, there were a few of those behavioral questions where I wasn't sure I had a good example, but they were really nice and made me comfortable... And you have a good point!! I hope it's sooner, I'm still applying elsewhere, but this is what I really want. I know only 15 people are actually being interviewed for the CVICU, but they didn't really say how many. I asked at the end what's one of the biggest barriers for the CVICU and they responded the turnover rate (because some of the nurses are there for 2-3 years before going back to school), which they said was good, but it can also be a little hard. This gives me hopes that they'll have a couple spots!
