UTMB Summer 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi future nurses! I didn't see a discussion board for the summer term of 2017, so I decided to make one myself(: Let's use this forum to discuss grades, TEAS, and the application process. This does include venting! We all know how anxiety kicks in when there's a bump in the road. Good luck to everyone that is applying!

I can't wait for the application period opens. Anyone that is re-applying, any tips?

Has anyone received their supplemental application yet? I applied the night it opened but have just received an email from UTMB stating that I will receive it within 7-10 business days.

No not yet, but I just sent mone a few days ago

I just received an email this morning saying I was added to the wait list for Spring 2017. At my interview, the admissions counselor told me to reapply for Summer 2017 as a backup plan without changing a thing or retaking any classes. To give you an idea of where my scores ranged:

Overall GPA: 3.22

Science GPA: 3.18

TEAS Score: 90.7% (According to ATI it's in the 99th percentile)

My grades in college were obviously not nearly as stellar as most other applicants, but the fact that I got wait listed at a school as reputable as UTMB has given me high hopes. I can only hope that things will continue to look up and I'll get accepted either this spring or summer.

thats great and you never know someone might decline and you might be able to attend !

hey guys I just took my TEAS and got an overall score of 84% but i got a 72% on my science section. :( im really worried that this will bring me down. My science gpa is a 3.39 and my pre req gpa is a 3.5 and my overall gpa is a 3.6 do u guys think this is good enough?or should i retake the TEAS

Hey guys, nursingcas is still verifying my transcripts. But does anyone know the general dates where we hear back from UTMB, such as the possibility of an interview?

Interviews have typically been at the end of November and into December. Or at least that is what I have heard.

Just a curious question for everyone. When would you consider your TEAS score good enough to get into UTMB?? Do you go off the basic pass rate of 65% or is a 73% considered competable? I know the higher the score the better your odds but when do you finally decide that your score is high enough?

I saw that someone got waitlisted with their 91% on this thread, so I'm pretty worried about my 88 ):

Hey Dani, I'm in the same boat as you (just found out I was waitlisted). I plan on retaking my TEAS as well because I don't know what else to do to improve my odds for getting in this round. Have you tried emailing or calling admissions to see if they'll let us know what specifically we should work on?Where were you able to find out how many applicants and spots they have each semester? I've been trying to figure that out myself! Good luck with your application! With any luck, we can still get in for spring.

Hello all,

I applied to Spring and am actually still awaiting a decision. Be prepared for a long wait! But I figured I would start my Summer application since all seats are full and if I get anything it will be wait listed.

Any way, When applying last time I had a 2.99 Overall GPA, 3.2 Science and 3.4 pre req. I also Took three classes over the summer and got all A's so hopefully its higher now. I got a 85.7% on the TEAS and I may retake it to make myself more competitive. They only have 90 seats in the summer (down from about 120 in the fall and spring) but they also have about half as many applicants and the average GPAs and test scores are much lower.

Was your interview recent? I had my interview for spring 2017 in mid-august and they never told me to apply for summer as well. I'm on the waitlist now and trying to figure out if I need to retake TEAS. Your scores are good! Better than mine.

Hi! I got my rejection letter this week unfortunately. I havent called, but my lab partner has a family friend has known many people that got in and she looked everything over and said she didnt think it was my grades at all that she thinks my statement should be more dramatic and personal. So I am tearing it apart and trying again.

I received those stats at the open house over the summer. They were not for this term in particular, but an average of the last several years.
