Quinnipiac ABSN 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi! Anyone applying to Quinnipiac ABSN Fall 2016? I applied and was hoping to get an idea of stats (e.g. GPA, undergrad major, experience) from those who were previously accepted or those who applied / are applying for this cohort! Trying to get an idea of the applicant pool. Thanks :)

This belongs in the nursing schools, colleges, and programs section

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Hi,

I also applied to QU. I have an undergraduate gpa of ~3.4. I don't have any experience in healthcare, but I do have a degree in Bio. I'm really nervous that my gpa is going to be too low to be accepted. Anyone accepted into the program in previous years with similar stats?

Hi esf14, thanks for your reply! I was starting to think I was the only applicant  I think your GPA is pretty strong. I applied with a 3.2 GPA in Psych and I worked for almost 3 years at a doctor's office in the administrative department (not sure if that even helps at all). I guess it will really depend on the GPA average of the applicant pool. I emailed an administrator today that I have been in contact with from QU to see how many applicants they received this year. I will let you know if she gets back to me. I feel like February is going to be the longest month ever...haha

Hi guys!

I have been meaning to start a group for us on here, and was so glad to find one started for the 2016 cohort.

I applied in September, and my paperwork was all in end of September.

I am graduating with a B.S. in Biomolecular Sciences (minor in chem) and a 3.74 undergrad GPA.

Have a CNA cert and have been working in the nutrition dept at a hospital for the last 1.5 years.

I just want to know now!!!! :)

Hi Linmat! Thanks for replying. You have great stats--best of luck to you! I am hoping we get some more people on this thread...

Thank you Blove419! Good luck to you, too!

You have impressive stats as well.

I was just checking last year's forum on here,

and saw that the first decisions had arrived around February 28th.

I cant wait to hear so I can plan my life. lol

Hello! I applied as well- I came across this a few months ago and there was only one comment! Glad to see it got some more traction, can't wait until we hear back.

Hi Everyone!

I applied for the program with all my materials turned in by November. I have a low GPA of 3.1 which worries me a little, but have 2 years of hospital volunteering experience, my CNA certification, a B.S. in Exercise Science and an A.S. in Science. I also work at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven coordinating the exercise component of a children's weight management program. I am was also a live-in caretaker for 1.5 years for an older adult for a while so I have basic geriatric care experience. Hoping my well-rounded resume will help me into the program.

I am super nervous about the decisions and really hoping to get in. I have SCSU Accelerated program that I am also waiting to hear back from but QU is my top choice. Hoping to find out soon so I can stop freaking out. :)

Good Luck! Please post when you get your acceptance letters so we can see when they are beginning to be sent out to students.

Thanks!

I totally agree Blove419 that the waiting game is the WORST part! Hope that you hear good news soon. Also, hoping to receive a thick envelope. The 2014 and 2015 cohort blogs all mentioned that their letters of acceptance were in a regular envelope size, but were thick due to a large amount of introductory materials for the accepted students. Chunky mail = good news!!!!

Wow, that is an impressive resume! My GPA is on the lower side as well, with a lot of volunteering experience in hospitals and other health related settings- but I don't have the work experience you do.

Good luck! I hope we will be hearing back soon :) QU is one of my top choices as well, I heard the program is excellent!
