NVCC MEC nursing fall '17

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all,

i submitted my app for the fall nursing program a week and a half ago so I figured I'd start a forum for all the NVCC MEC nursing applicants to communicate with each other while we anxiously wait for our faith. If anyone in the program or have graduated from the program would like to give some advice, please do!

I'm just fascinated watching all types of surgeries, I know I'd never tire of it! Thanks for answering my question Victor. I just don't like wasting my time but I get why they arrange it that way.

So, just wanted to give everyone a timeline on what they did last year.

So last year on the facebook page they updated everyone when they were halfway through processing the applications (on June 2nd) and that they hoped to be done with all of them (RN and LPN) by the end of the next week. Then on June 6th, they updated saying how many applications they had received for the LPN and RN program combined (400) and that they were almost done processing all of them and that admissions decisions would be made shortly thereafter.

On June 9th, they said that 99% of the applications had been processed and the last group would be contacted the next day(so, this is the email that most of us have received saying that our application would be sent to the nursing division).

June 12th they posted saying that people may have received emails stating they were missing application requirements and to please respond to those emails.

June 13th they posted saying every Nursing Applicant has been contacted regarding the status of their application (not an acceptance or denial, just whether it had been processed). They responded to a comment saying that they expect acceptances to be sent out in two weeks, roughly around the 24th.

June 17th - updated saying "Nursing LPN to RN Applicants will be notified within the next few days"

June 23rd - MEC Status update: "The Nursing division will notify accepted applicants first. If someone is unable to accept the offer they will move to the next ranked person in line." An email was sent to ALL applicants at 2:00pm notifying that acceptances would be sent out that day. Decisions went out at 4:00PM that day. It was a mass email that every accepted applicant received at the same time.

June 24th - Post saying that everyone who wasn't accepted would only get their notice of denial after every single slot was filled. LPN to RN acceptances were not sent out yet.

Separate post on the same day from the Dean of Nursing: The smaller cohort for 2016 was because of the lack of clinical availability.

On June 30th, they still had not sent out denial letters.

And that's all! The rest of the stuff was regarding different orientation dates. I guess what we can gather from this timeline is that a) I'm bored at work and b) we will probably be updated step by step like they did last year. I doubt we'll receive our acceptances on June 2nd, and it will probably be late June before we get them. Let me know what you guys think! I know in the Fall 2016 forum on this website a lot of the people who applied were mad because a lot of them didn't get in and didn't get any notification saying that this was the case until a week or so after acceptances had been given. I personally think that it makes sense for the MEC to hold off on sending out denials in case some of the acceptees ended up not taking their spots!

I feel like this year they have not been updating the MEC FB page much regarding the nursing applications. Their recent updates have no mention of the May 15th email sent out regarding statuses (e.g. processed & sent to the department, missing pieces, etc.), or anything else related to this application cycle.

Also, wasn't the deadline last year around May 20th, as opposed to May 8th, like it was this year? If the above timeline holds, we should know something next week-ish. Hopefully.

This seems correct to me. Looking at last years forum on this website, they were notified approximately three weeks after they received the email that their applications had been processed. June 8th is what I'm expecting.

Just wanted to update you all:

An MEC student services rep messaged me saying acceptance emails are expected to be sent sometime between June 2nd-June 15th. Within the next two weeks! Good luck everyone í ½í¸Š

*screams internally with nerves* Wow! That's crazy but I hate how large of a timeline that is lol. Also weird that she would give you a timeline that includes tomorrow? Lol

This makes all my nerves resurface, but excited. I don't think I will be accepted but I still have a small amount of hope. *fingers crossed* Hopefully they will have more spaces available this semester.

That's good news.

Did they give you any idea about when orientation might be?

I totally agree they haven't been updating their fb page regarding nursing info lately. I got the email yesterday that my app will be transferred to the nursing department but some people in this forum said they got it 2 weeks ago, so that kind of scared me. I thought they would do everything at once, but when I called two weeks ago, they said they got over 400 apps this year. I don't think we will hear back by June 2nd if I just got the confirmation email yesterday (assuming others just got it yesterday as well). Maybe mid-late June?

Nnh7, when did you send in your application?

I mailed mine about two days after the window opened in March & I got the notification about it being sent to the nursing department on May 15th. I remember reading something about them processing apps in the order in which they were received, but I'm not sure if that happened.

Oh wow! That's crazy you only just got it! Maybe they will be doing it in batches. Who knows what the process is, right? Im praying june 2nd means they will send em out tomorow because I can't deal. I literally feel like rapunzle when she leaves the tower. (Woohoo! I'm totally getting into nursing school...i am never getting into nursing school....this is the best year evvvverrr....this is going to be the worst year everrrr. Hahahah)

We have to remember that the 400 applications will be for all programs- LPN LPN-RN and RN. Assuming they do have over 100 spots, let's hope that at least all of us will beat the odds!

I didn't get my processed email until about 10 minutes after I called Student Services on some random day, so i don't think they had a process on how they were going to process the applications. Like they always say, they only care about the GPA and TEAS scores, so don't worry about the time you sent in your application or when they decided to process it!
