FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Just wanted to start a thread on this upcoming admission cycle for FIU's accelerated nursing program. I just finished taking the TEAS for the second time and gathering all my materials to submit to FIU. Does anyone know if they're really competitive?? Bleh freaking out, my TEAS score is just a 71%, and gpa is avg.

Hey! I'm turning in my application on Friday for FIU. I'm a little scared because I didn't meet with an advisor so I didn't go over whether my prereqs work for Anatomy. FSU does them a little differently. I took my TEAS last week and got a 90% on my first try! Applying to FAU and FIU.

Hey! @stnurse14 I didn't meet with one either, I just called an advisor and was on the phone w them constantly making sure I had everything. The anatomy needed is A&P 1 & 2 with lab! But that's an awesome score! Goodluck!! To both of us lol :-)

My course code is a little different. We had PET3322 and PET3323, still A&P 1 and 2 with the labs but not the "nursing" A&P if that makes sense? I just found out that if you want to include past volunteering and work experience that you need a signed letter by the head of the organization or workplace and it must be included in your packet. I'm glad I asked because she said it really helps you get ahead! Hope that helps you! I'm pretty scared about applying so I'll be applying to BCC and PBSC as well.

Yes I have a lot of volunteer experience so I'm betting on that! As for your anatomy classes I would call! They're very helpful. I'm applying to UM too, they have the same program.

Specializes in Corrections, Surgical.

I have been thinking of applying to FIU AO as well. I actually graduated from there with a different degree so I'm an alumni.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

I moved your thread to the school/college forum to encourage responses.

Hey guys!

I just officially submitted my application today as well!

Does anyone know how many student are accepted into the program? I've also read that they typically begin to notify applicants for interviews around August-September. Pretty nervous; i'm not exactly sure how competitive the program is. But I'm praying for this opportunity! Took my TEAS not long ago and scored a 94%!

Good luck everyone! Hope this works out! :)

So for previous cohorts I've heard they accepted roughly 30 applicants out of a 120-person pool. Those are rough numbers but should be pretty similar to what we'll be looking at as well! When I dropped off my app someone in the office also told me we should be hearing back about the next stage within the first couple weeks of August, which is pretty exciting! Awesome TEAS score BTW, I scored a 91.

Ah yeah, 30 from 120 is pretty selective. Optimism is key though :)

And thanks, you did great as well.

Can't wait until August!

I am so anxious for the second week of August, just to hear something. I believe they interview about 60 and then pick half. Good luck to all of us : )

Does anyone know if the interviews are one on one or in a group?
