CSUSB Fall 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys!

I noticed a thread hadn't been made for CSUSB, so I decided to make one. I'm planning on applying to a few other schools, but I feel like CSUSB is my safest bet. My stats could use some improvement but I still remain hopeful *crosses fingers* :)

GPA: 3.71

Pre-Req GPA: Between 3.5-3.6

TEAS: 86%, but I just retook it today, so hopefully it goes up. I will retake it again if I didn't hit the 90's this time.

Bilingual Proficiency

Attended Information Session

2 Letters of Recommendation

I live in San Bernardino County

I was hoping we could share stats, ask/answer questions, and share the agony of waiting for a response! Lol

Good luck to everybody planning on applying.

CSUSB was my second choice school and CSUCI being first but now I'm leaning towards CSUSB first... let me know if you get in.. i was wondering too if it's hard to get in ?? I'll be applying for Fall 16 (= Good Luck and I hope you get in!!

All programs are really competitive :( But, CSUSB seems easier for me since they don't give points for volunteer hours, which I haven't completed. They also give you points if you live near campus, which some other schools don't do.

Thank you!

I'll be applying Fall '16 as well! I heard they're not likely to accept anyone Winter/Spring 2016 due to budget cuts so I figured Fall is the way to go. Good luck to you guys though!

That is my school. Here is what I can tell you. The program is absurdly impacted and competitive. The lowest GPA of the most recent cohort was a 3.89. Winter is an easier time to get in than Fall (i don't know why but I so I am told) and I just asked a faculty member about cutting cohorts said she hasn't heard a thing about not having 2 cohorts a year and finds it hard to believe. Especially since they are hiring more faculty. Good news there! The program is well respected with the area hospitals and having a BSN around here is basically essential to get a job.

Good luck it's a great program! It is very very tough. Quarters go quick and you get an insane amount of information. The biggest mistake I see people make is not reading and studying enough outside of class. There is too much information for the professors to cover everything in class so doing your part outside is essential.

@Nienna Thank you. My original plan was to apply for Winter 2015, since I too heard that it was easier. However, CSUSB doesn't take transfers for winter anymore, you can only transfer in the fall :(. So basically the winter cohort is for current CSUSB students only.

All the programs are so competitive; it's really discouraging. But, I'm staying hopeful.

Update: I scored a 91% on the TEAS this time. Yay!

Where did you hear that? I know they're not accepting at all Winter 2016 but that was about it? Transfers are just allowed during Fall now?

@chmariee You can't apply to the school to transfer during winter anymore. You can only apply on csumentor for fall. I tried a few months ago && at the end I got an error message saying that no transfers were accepted for winter. I thought it was a mistake so I called CSUSB && they said that you can't apply. Since you can't apply to the school, you can't apply to the program either :(

Awww that sucks for us then. I hoping winter would be the easy semester to try for. When I found out winter was a no-go at CSUSB I pushed back on taking my micro for next fall just so I can make sure I'll get an A. Are you coming from a CC?

@chmariee No I'm at CSULA right now :)

Curious to know if you have already applied to the school for Fall 2015 because fall intake application for 2015 ended Nov 30.
