College of the Canyons Spring 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I am starting this thread for anyone that will be applying to the COC spring 2015 semester!

I am so nervous to start applying, and so excited at the same time!

I am curious as to what every ones GPA is that will be applying?

I still check constantly lol. I have had my coc linked with my personal email, but when they sent out the prerequisite evaluation response it never forwarded to my personal, so I still check both just in case :) hopefully we will hear back soon! I wish I knew when they were planning on sending out the notifications.

Me too!!!

So I have raised my overall practice TEAS score from 72.9 to 89.3, both versions!!! The science section is killing me (first try 52+53; second try 75+79), but I am hoping there will be a little more clarity coming in the next few days. I am watching Youtube videos, Khan Academy, and Google-ing like crazy. There is no way I can say I slacked on studying. I am even going to repurchase the practice exams as you only get to take them twice.

From reading other posts in the TEAS section, they are saying the online practice exams are harder than the actual test. I sure hope that's true.

Thanks, good to know about the email system. I seem to be receiving them fine from my PoliSci class right now but it's always good to double-check especially for this application.

Regarding the TEAS, I had the most difficult time recalling Chemistry, though I didn't prepare as well as I should have. Good luck to you I'm sure you'll do well.

I haven't bought them. I am just hoping everything that's on the test is covered in the book:/ but I've done pretty well on those test in the back of the book

are the online practice test you can purchase from ATI harder then the test in the back of the ATI book? I thought the second test in the back of the book was harder than the first, but it honestly wasn't bad at all....did you notice anything covered on the online test that wasn't in the book?

I guess it depends on who you ask. I think the questions online are more difficult and require more detailed info. If you read between the lines of the book and really dissect each area, you can figure it out. Some people say they are the same, and one person even thought the book was harder. If you look at the TEAS V forums on here though, especially the one that everyone is posting their scores in, they are saying the tests online are harder than the actual and the ones in the book are easier than the actual. I went by majority so I went ahead and bought the access.

What I do like about it is that it breaks down the scores for each category. It also gives you a detailed list of the specific areas that you need to review. i.e. Science: Life Science: Compare and contrast meiosis and mitosis. It also tells you how long the exam took you (but doesn't restrict you if you go over time). You need to keep track of your time for each section though to see if you are close. It lets you flag items to go back to the way you can during the test.

I couldn't take it any more. I called, notifications will be going out by the end of the week!

Recd the teas test email on my personal. Check yours!

I received mine too! I go on the 6th at 1!

I am heartbroken, I got an email saying I didn't meet the cut score, but I am really confused. My overall GPA is 3.09, my sciences are 3.0 if all are averaged, but 3.24 if you take the more recent time I took Anatomy and Physiology (I had to repeat for Moorpark's time requirement). English is only a C, but no repeats in any sciences. I sent an email back to them, but I am deflated.

@clearblue so sorry to hear that. At least you still have moorpark in the running. Keep your head up and ace that TEAS! What is meant to be will pan out. Good luck!
