College of the Canyons Spring 2015

Published

Hi everyone! I am starting this thread for anyone that will be applying to the COC spring 2015 semester!

I am so nervous to start applying, and so excited at the same time!

I am curious as to what every ones GPA is that will be applying?

Yeah I also find myself checking my email about 3 times a day

I just started studying this week. I took the teas last year in november so I'm studying everything I did poorly in (I winged it). Im still waiting on my ati manual D:

how was the test last time you took it? I am a little worried that it will be way harder than the ati manual :/

It wasn't so bad.I don't have the ati manual yet so I can't tell you if it's similiar or not. But I think it's a pretty fair test.

@ps aren't you only allowed to submit the first attempt of teas 5? You may want to dbl chk?

I think it has to be within a certain time period but I'm not 100%

I hope that we will hear today. From looking at previous post, most people found out on the 18th/19th. I just hate checking my email constantly. Is everyone prepared to take the test? (assuming we are eligible for the program). I just want it to be mid-October.

I moved my TEAS V Test to the 26th because I was invited to take it by Moorpark. I have been preparing like crazy.

I am using these things to study:

ATI Manual $14.00 rented from Amazon

McGraw Hill's 5 TEAS practice tests $28 B&N (I borrowed and made copies from a friend, if you pm me I can try to scan the sections I copied and send them to you)

Android Pocket Prep (also available on Itunes) 9.99 for in app purchase to get 1400+ questions

I couldn't take it any longer, I called COC and simply asked when the potential TEAS dates were, they said first week in October. I sure hope we find out today. I already have my TEAS scheduled before then for another school, but just the wait to see if the application is accepted is killing me.

the first week of October is less than 2 weeks away!! Hopefully we get those emails soon!!! I am so anxious! Let us know how the TEAS is when you take it @clearbluesky. I just hope they accept my application and that I did not mess up on anything (like the pdf files). heres to a long day of checking my email!

That's my biggest fear too. In fact I know that I accidently scanned a copy of my HS transcript that was stamped unofficial. I am hoping it didn't matter because it was our HS transcript and the only difference is that stamp.

I only sent them a pdf of my diploma and my work experience. What all does moorpark required? I live somewhat near there but haven't really looked into it. I wanted to apply to Ventura but they require you to have a CNA before, which I don't have. I wonder if they can tell us how many people applied this semester...or if they can at least tell us when the tentative date for notifications will be sent out. I hate waiting. I guess I will just keep studying. :/

Moorpark has a multicriteria points system. pre-requisites are the same as for the other schools, but they dock points for repeats. Their TEAS V scores determine your final points. You get up to 6 points for each section and up to 6 points for the overall score which is why I am doing nothing but studying. If you go to their website the admission criteria link has the point system explained. Basically the higher your points, the higher your chance of getting in. They are one of the tougher schools to get into but their reputation amongst the hospitals is amazing. I live in Ventura County so it is the closest school to me, but that was not why I applied there. COC is in a tie with Moorpark for my first choice school and it happens to be the furthest from me. Ventura for me is out because of the CNA. I did the class and got my license 10 years ago, but because I let it lapse, they wanted me to take it again.

Hi All, I wanted to share, I was able to forward my COC email to my personal. Just go to settings and it's quite simple.

This alleviates the stress of having to check multiple times daily ?!

Best of luck to everyone!
