Anyone taken this course? I'm thinking of taking this with NRSE 451 Transitions in order to finish this course before the switch to semesters.

How difficult was this course? I've taken a lot of online courses, so that is not an issue. I am OKAY with math (I got an A in College Algebra by really applying myself). I'm also working 1 full-time job, and another part-time. I'm going to cut down on the part-time job though.

ok everybody...stop scaring me!!!

Well everyone, what do you think so far?

I seriously don't care about this stuff, but so far it isn't hard. Do you think we have to memorize these term and definitions?

It's open book open note. So you really don't need to memorize. Just have well organized notes and marked pages so that you can flip to fast.

So far it is ok, but still it feels like learning a new language lol I hope I can make it through this class. Once it comes to doing calculations I will see how confident I feel...

I will be following this thread closely!! Have to retake it - and Rio wants me to repeat college algebra to take stats there - Ain't gonna happen!! Will NEVAH voluntarily take another algebra class!!! So ... taking this classes during Oct-Nov along with Excellence. That combo should be doable. And for those of you that do not have Prof L .... what books are required by Prof K??

EXactly why I wouldn't take it at Rio!

We are using: Howell, Fundamental Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences 7th edition, (but 6th edition is OK) and Utts, Seeing Through Statistics, 3rd edition.

Anyone having trouble identifying independent vs dependent variables. The Mod 1 assignment question 18 has got me confused?

Yep, me too. I wish there was some more practice questions on this. I don't have my papers with me, but there was a question about discrete and continuous that I couldn't understand why it was continuous.

Independent variables are things you as the experimenter control or direct.... like who gets meds and who get a placebo , what type of diet a person on wt program gets; the independent variable is what happens as a result, like the BP measurements, the weight loss or gain...

Continuous variable is something that can be any number on the scale even if it is a fraction of a point like between 0 and 100, it could be 52.85. Discrete is a fixed number that can't be a decimal or a fraction ( it can only be a whole number)

At least that's how I understand it.

I wish we could have the assignments graded sooner if we submit before the deadline.

The board for this thread has been quiet. How's everyone doing?

I'm finding my brain really challenged with this , but I also am finding the TA to be really helpful. I've emailed her with questions three times and she has answered each question very quickly.

Mine is too. I'm working on finishing the module 2 homework now. I guess at some point I will have to start looking at the math portion for module 3...I hope I will survive this, online math classes were always my greatest fear so I will see. I did fair on the practice questions, there are still always times when I mess us discrete and continuous values. I had to use the world wide web a few times in order to get some more examples for me to understand terminology. The facilitators and instructors seem very helpful but sometimes a real-life teacher just cannot be replaced. Big sigh....I am shaking in my boots.
