Degree question

  1. My DARS states "all requirements are complete pending final graduation clearance." When can I officially consider myself having my degree and legally sign BSN after my name? Diplomas I am told will be mailed out sometime in October. Just curious if anyone knows when I'm officially official ;-)

I would think NOW being your DARS says all requirements are complete! Congrats to you! Must be a great feeling!

Thanks Cinci and woodsy. It is nice to be done! My family threw me a party last weekend. I think they are as happy that I'm done as I am. I've actually read 2 non textbooks and am using contractions again! ;-). I am trying to study for and take a certification exam before my study skills get rusty.
I do not envy any of you still in the program but hang in there. It will go quickly. Each class is one step closer.

You so earned it and give me 'hope" Back in the saddle again on Monday. You can sit back and smile while we trudge on!

I'm on the sidelines rooting for you and Cinci. Being a "mature" nurse is actually an advantage in some of the classes because you have experience to draw from. Let me know if there is anything I can do to make your journey less painful ;-)

enuf_already thanks and again so happy you are done. Don't think I have the discipline to sit in a classroom and do these courses! Just thinking about doing these papers again has me saying "grrrrrrr" I take 4550 in January and not looking forward to that class!

I'm waiting for the official word as well. I know transcripts from outside institutions had to be in by Aug. 23, so I figure sometime after that we should get the "all clear". My DARS said the same as your as of this morning.

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I emailed my adviser to be sure that the 2 courses I am signed up for in the fall were all I needed to graduate and to also see what I needed to do to graduate and this was her response -

"Assuming you receive passing grades in the classes you are registered to take, you will have completed all of your course requirements this Fall. Just be sure to apply for graduation when classes begin (and before the deadline of Sept. 30)."

    And congratulations!!

I paid my graduation fee weeks ago. I passed all of the courses and had the okay from my advisor that I had completed all of the coursework to graduate.

To anyone graduating within a semester--make sure you do not miss the application deadline!! There ate specific dates to apply for each semester. If you are taking any courses outside OU there is also a deadline for transcripts and grades to be in to meet graduation requirements for the semester. After you complete the paperwork, eventually the fee will show up in your OU account.

Congratulations to all of my fellow summer graduates!

And pay attention when you fill out the graduation application! I completed the program back in Nov 2012 but missed the deadline and had to wait until 2013 to file for graduation. I did that as soon as the system was open, and sent a check in February as soon as the fee showed in my OU account. Unfortunately, I somehow checked a box that said I my last course would be in the second summer session of 2013. As result, I'm now a late summer 2013 grad still waiting for the diploma I thought I earned in the fall of 2012.

Moral of the story: Attention to detail is essential!

    Congrats and best of luck.
