4550- Evidence Based Nursing

Nursing Students Ohio University

From looking at the classes starting in fall, I'm guessing that Evidence Based nursing is replacing Research? Anyone have any idea if stats is still required prior to taking this, as it was with Research?

Ya'll are scaring me! This has been a rough week for me with very limited time for reading/studying. I just finished up with my DB replies and now I need to start reviewing for that quiz. I think I should just raise the white flag and be done with it ... I am never going to be able to remember and apply all the (*&% from this week's readings.....

Rninme, don't be scared. It is a hard test just make sure that you elaborate more on the study guide and know how a research question would be worded. That's where I got tripped up is the application questions

I just found this forum and glad I did. I am finding NRSE 4550 extremely difficult. I have never failed a test until now! The first one I missed 6 this one I missed 10! I studied really hard. When I read the questions, I'm confused on what they are asking. Anyone who can provide insight would certainly be welcomed. I've never failed a class and I don't intend to now. I just don't know how to correct things. HELP!!!

Just really concentrate more on the study guide when studying for the quiz.

Just really concentrate more on the study guide when studying for the quiz.

And know the information listed on the study guide down to the cellular level - what it means and how to apply it. Know what an example of the information looks like.

Welcome to the forum, glad you found us here. I think you'll find that we are a friendly group and are willing to help others. If nothing else we can all complain together.

Many of us are finding that the questions on each quiz have been confusing. You really need to understand the concepts and be able to apply them. Not as simple as it might seem, I know. To prepare for each quiz I read the chapters and write a lot of notes. I then read over those notes several times to really try to understand the concepts. I think that the problem is that a lot of the concepts seem to be really similar. The reading is not very interesting so that just makes it even more difficult to really get into it. I also watch every video, though honestly I sometimes can't get through them all. For instance, the video on ethnography was seriously boring my brain to no end. I too have heard that this class has a higher fail rate but I refuse to let that get to me. All of us CAN get through this class. You, me, all of us, can get through this.

Thanks All!

You would not believe how much focus I placed on the study guide this time. I do agree I need to pay more attention to examples and am trying to as I begin to read the info for Mod 3. When I finishied the test, I honestly thought I had done better than I did. I was shocked. I personally don't feel a class that has a high failure rate is something to be proud of. I think it is much better to be able to have a working knowledge of research in order to assist in future practice and reading research. I'm disappointed so far in this class. Pass...I simply want to pass. Thanks for everone's support. It is hard when it seems like you are teaching yourself from a book....and not such a great book. A friend of mine is a nursing professor and said they don't use this text for their class as too hard to understand the concepts. I'd agree.

I'll take all the pointers and help I can get!!!

This class is absolutely killing me. Misery loves company so thank you for sharing your tales of woe. My only saving grace at this point is the 100% they gave us for quiz 1. I thought I nailed quiz 2, yet it was another nail in my coffin! I have never failed a test until now. And of course their idea of failing is really a C. I have used that study guide, written notes...more reading, more study guide review, etc. None of that is helping me at this point. For me it's the wording of the tests. I read them aloud, re-read them and think...while the clock ticks by. This is by far the most I have studied for any class. Family was a breeze by comparison. And when the test is over I learn nothing about what I missed! What is the point of that?

All I can say is that is class is making me ill to my stomach. The quizzes are out to get us. WHY?

mtsteelhorse,

I so agree with you. I understand that this is a college course and grades are involved but this also is my money and I expect to learn something other than how frustrated I can get! My anxiety levels are growing strong for the next test. I so agree with you....I thought I did great on Module 2...if I had false teeth they would have fallen out of my mouth when I saw my results.

Enough of the "complaining"...it is what it is and WE CAN DO THIS!!! Maybe by the skin of our teeth but we can pass (I'll let you know if I hold that same opinion after module 3 test, smile).

Don't you all think a curve is highly likely???

I thought the same in family ... didn't happen there but many it will here!
