4550- Evidence Based Nursing

Nursing Students Ohio University

From looking at the classes starting in fall, I'm guessing that Evidence Based nursing is replacing Research? Anyone have any idea if stats is still required prior to taking this, as it was with Research?

I think I need a brain transplant. :banghead:

Can this get any more boring???????????

I think the quiz is under week one called "Question and Answer". I didn't click on it, but that is what I think that means.

That is the Q/A about Module 1 - same as with Epic. Only thing posted there is a cleaner copy of the Module 1 quiz study guide. Maybe it will just "appear" when it is opened??

Well - have my literature search done and the assignment filled out. Thinking it was just a bit too easy so now I am in a panic!! Found 3 qualitative studies from peer-reviewed sources without much fuss. I have obviously done SOMETHING incorrectly .... :uhoh21:

I take it for that assignment we're supposed to describe what we learned about the actual search, correct?

I took it that they want what we learned from the process of doing the assignment. It says in one or two sentences so it can't be asking for much detail.

How do you submit it? are you saving it in word and then putting it in as an attachment, or are you writing it out in the comments boxes?

I emailed my TA last night for clarification, but haven't gotten a reply yet.

I can't believe I'm saying this... but I miss Statistics. At least when I had a question it got answered the same day.

I hear ya! I want straight forward information! I was wondering the same thing about how to submit the assignment. I think between the group we'll get through this class...somehow!

Where is the rubric for the lit search assignment??? And how do you submit it? I've posted this on the class question board but no reply yet. Thanks...I'm confused!

No rubric - I have looked. It is asking what you learned from the assignment - not what you learned from the research. On the assignment page, click the heading for Literature Search. That will take you to the submit page. I download the assignment worksheet and fill it out in word. Then upload and submit, same as with Epic.

There is a template in Word that you fill out and save. I don't think it states it anywhere but my assumption is that you will submit the saved document, though I think you can cut and paste it as well. When you click on the "Literature searches" link, scroll down and past Section 2 (Assignment Materials) and you will see a "Browse My Computer" radio button. Click on it, go to where your saved document is and then click "Open." This will pull the file into BB. Once there, go to the bottom of the screen and you will see a green radio button in the right corner marked "Submit." Click it and you're done.

Usually, there are instructions telling you what to name the file - something like "YourName_LiteratureAssignment" - but I didn't see any for this one. Probably worth double checking this though.

I saw that another student posted this question, and our TA said to go to the Blackboard How To's and basically figure it out yourselves. I understand how to navigate blackboard, but I wanted her specific preference. On the form where we write our answers, it doesn't give a place to put our name on the document, so I am submitting my assignment with the "yourname_literatureassignment" as you suggested.

Hi! I'm Deanna and I'm taking this class too. I usually don't post much on these boards, but this is the first class that I have done without support of work friends. I don't understand why they aren't giving more resources to help people that have never taken a blackboard course. When I took Art and Statistics on blackboard I felt the profs were really good about posting announcements on ways to help with the transition to using blackboard. I added my name in the document I submitted and saved it as YourNameAssignmentName. I also copy and pasted my work into the place where you can type, just in case this first submission didn't work right for some reason. Good luck everyone!

I get the impression they are not comfortable with Blackboard either. Epic had its issues but it is miles ahead of Bb. This first class for them on Bb may be a little rough for all involved. Glad I have taken at least one class that used Bb so can at least navigate around.
