Recently passed NCLEX for Michigan, but need Ohio license

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

I moved to Michigan to be with my now ex boyfriend. All my family is in Ohio. Before moving, I kept going back and forth wondering whether to stay in Ohio or move with the boyfriend of two years who I was convinced he was the one. So I sent in an app and all fees for both Ohio and Michigan and at the last minute changed it to Michigan, obviously a mistake. Had just passed and gotten my license for Michigan when he broke up with me and now have to get endorsed for Ohio. I have been emailing and calling the OBN with no luck. I got frustrated and ended up just sending in my endorsement application because I figured it was best to just give them everything I could to speed up the process, but the website still lists me an examination applicant waiting on the test scores. I want to get a hold of OBN to see if there's a way to have my test scores just sent over... but no one has been answering my calls or emails for weeks. This waiting and unemployment is unbearable. Also, I checked for the temporary license, but that doesn't mean I will only get the temporary and not the renewable license right?

so basically my questions are, is it possible to send scores again after already sending them else where, what exactly is the temporary license, and how long does this process usually take?

Thanks!

I don't believe you send your scores anywhere if you have a Michigan license. You should be applying by endorsement and not by the initial application. Unfortunately, you may have to shell out more money depending on how long the info was done.

Email the board. It is quicker. It usually takes 3-5 days business days for a response.

Make sure you're sending in everything needed. Do they have a background check on file completed within the last 12 months? If it was longer, you may have to send a new one in.

Did you send in your Nursesys verification? If you have not, then you will need to verify your Michigan license to the state of Ohio through Nursesys.

Also, how long ago did you send your info in? It can take awhile to get all the info processed especially with a lot of people graduating. If it has been less than a week and you did send in all the paperwork, have a background check that is less than 1 year old, and verified your license then I would give it 3 weeks to a month.

To go the other way around, it took 4 weeks for me but I have a paramedic license in Michigan. Another nurse has been waiting close to 8 weeks for her Michigan license.

I applied for initial license back in february, all paperwork was in except my scores and the site says they are waiting for my scores. But since they weren't returning my emails or calls for 3 weeks now... I sent in all requirements for endorsement too including another background check, nursesys, and continuing education credits 2 weeks ago. I wasn't sure if they would need another background check so I just thought I would send everything I could possibly could from my end, not leaving anything out.

Thank you for all your info! helps having a time frame in mind to try to stay sane now that I am living back home with my parents ha!

I sent my stuff in April. Emailed early May about my info and just last week got verification that obn received all my stuff. Still waiting on my ATT. OBN moves slower than a dead snail.

The issue is that you applied for initial licensure in more than one state. You are only supposed to apply to one state BoN and then endorse to others. You have confused the system as your initial application for license by examination likely needs to be cancelled

They do take longer to answer questions in high volume times. Not to mention were only two months away from the Lpn renewals.

Continue emailing at at lsast once a week.

It ended up taking 8 weeks for my endorsement from MI to OH.

Good luck to everyone out there!

So glad to hear it....I was wondering how it was going for you! LPN renewals are taking place this year, right about now, so maybe that's why you had such a delay....:cautious: ...just glad it all worked out for you!

Did they issue a temporary permit? How long did that take?

They did not issue anything besides the actual license. I am not sure why not.

Lots of states no longer offer temporary permits. You're either licensed or you're not.

Ohio does offer it though according to the application.
