I been feeling down since last night I was called to the ER to code a 6 week old baby which delivered under my care. it was very said .beatiful little baby parents went out for first time since birth baby sitter found baby in distress in crib. we got her her coded her but was unable to save her. the parents are devastated. I was hoping you all could pray for the family to help them through it.

as for me i will be fine in a few days I guess. maybe i needed to stop getting so close to my patients:(

well thanks in advance :)

Oh, Mark. What a horrible thing. Only time will ease this pain and that doesn't even work very well. :(

And I think from reading your posts that there's NO way you CAN stop getting close to your patients. It's the kind of nurse you are. And it was probably comforting to those parents. Your familiar presence (as well as your obvious pain) was most certainly helpful to them in this time of horrible! pain. I will pray for this poor family (and you too!)

Oh man, I am so sorry. I said a special prayer for strength and peace for you and that family. You both have a special angel watching over you now.

I've been in your place, and I know it's hard. I have no words of wisdom. Just know that the caring you have and the devastation you feel are what makes you a great nurse and a great person.

how sad, i am so sorry to read this. warm thoughts your and that family's way.

how very sad! I think it is very normal that you feel rotten right now. You helped deliviering this child, you have a special bonding with it and you are a feeling person! So mourn away!

(((Mark))) Alwats bad when you lose a patient, but when you lose one so young with a life ahead of them and so innocent, makes you wonder why they were taken, Just know it wasn't anything you did.

MY thoughts and prayers are with you and the family as well as the babysitter...May god watch over you!!

How horrible for everyone. The parents are never going to forgive themselves for going out even though it was fine and normal to do so.

God Bless the parents, the soul of the child, the sitter and all the health care workers who tried to save the child,

Mark...sorry about what you had to go through. Sometimes when it's hard to understand why God would allow certain things to happen this verse comes in my mind...

Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your thoughts."

Even though God took this baby so young he has a perfect plan for this situation, and we may never find out why.

Don't want to sound preachy Mark but I just I could maybe help.
