Well, just recently I have had a patient who simply refuses to use the call bell or get to the BSC and has a big and very messy bm in the bed. This happens multiple times each shift. He is A/O x 3. He is obese but able to move himself in bed and help get himself OOB.

It frustrates me that someone would lie there in bm. I don't say anything. I try not to be judgmental.

But just once I'd like to say:

"Please stop soiling your bed".

One doctor I work with is considered very dangerous by every single nurse I work with. When he is doing a delivery NICU automatically turns a warmer on. He has pulled many babies out of 7-9 centimeter cervices, just because he could. He has injured babies by pulling and pulling on them with vacuums. And he wonders why none of his friends, co-workers, church members, etc come to see him as a patient. Just once I would like to tell him what a horrible doctor he is straight to his face.

There's not enough space on allnurses.com for me to say the things I've been wanting to rant about as a nurse. :rotfl:

Okay....I'll try to remain calm and use as few words as possible.

To the docs who have been rude and disrespectful; condescending, arrogant, and airheads................"YOU'RE FIRED!!!" :rotfl:

To the patients who love to whine, those who think they are my ONLY patient and therefore seek to abuse me as their personal slave instead of as their nurse; who think I'm into concierge service instead of healthcare -- "It's not all about you, okay!" :uhoh3:

To other healthcare and ancillary hospital staff who think my job is to serve them PRONTO while the patient is kept waiting......."It's not all about you either!":p

Hmmm Steph..I don't see the problem with asking a pt to stop soiling the bed. if he's perfectly capable of doing so.

What's he going to do? Tell on you for asking him to stop?

I would tell some very arrogant and rude doctors:

"get over yourself and quit being rude and/or griping about having to come in at night; it's what you get the big bucks for!"

And I would tell some (physically capable but whiny) patients who think we are waitresses and butlers

"go get it yourself dammit; I am not here to wait on you hand and foot".

fortunately, when I show them where they can get what they need themselves, most follow my cue. But a few......well you know....{sigh}

Steph, it certainly is NOT selfish to ask a capable person to quit soiling his bed!!!! That behavior is very passive-aggressive-sounding to me!

Personally...I have ALWAYS wanted to say to the person on the phone who calls and says...."I lost my mucus plug".......

I would have much more evil thoughts - like wanting to rub his nose in it and bopping him on the head with a rolled newspaper! :chuckle

Seriously, though, this person sounds as if he really has some mental health issues - or is this the only thing he has control over?
