Hi Lex,

About the unregistered practice, I emailed SCHS several times but they said that they wouldn't issue such letter. A friend of mine also went to one of their branches to personally request one but nothing happened.

According to NMC, they will issue a form that we need to send to SCHS explaining why we were allowed to practice prior to the issuance of our SCHS license.

I think you just have to wait for the said form after the assessment of your Pack 2.

BTW, my agency will only send my pack 2 this week.

Hi, oliver01! Did you push through with your uk application? I also have the same sentiments. And like you, i also have a job offer in Surrey and now waiting for my cos to arrive. Are you able to save money and send some amount to the philippines? Hope to hear from you.

Hi guys, just bumped into this thread and found it really useful. Im planning on moving to chelmsford (job offer by nhs yeah band 5 around the same pay). Any thoughts? Ive been researching and it seems a much affordable place to stay than london (please do correct me if im wrong)

So much things to consider. Im still confused but trying to get a grasp on things. About to sit my osce a month after I get there. Accomodation is with the hospital for about a month but im on my own after that.

Have friends that lived in Chelmsford, nice place but accommodation can still be a bit expensive. Have you tried doing a search online ofr a rough idea on rental prices?

Hi silverdragon! Yeah I did. It is indeed pricey. I dont really mind a small space so Im still looking at some. I have up until a month to stay at the nhs assigned accommodation.

Hello annabananaRN, I would suggest that you should choose a flat that's very near your work place. Buses here mostly runs every 30 minutes during 'work' hours and then an hour after. You can opt to learn to drive but as you know it's right hand driving here, I'm from the Philippines and still find myself confused sometimes. Rightmove is a good website for getting an idea how much the rent would be (they call it TO LET here). Good luck!

If i had the freedom and the savings to move out of the U.K., I'd be considering it now, unfortunately I don't so I'm going to have to baton down the hatches and weather the storm.

Nurse wages are pretty much static, we're not going to see anything more than a 1% cost of living pay rise for the foreseeable future, whilst the cost of living will increase. Pressure within the NHS is increasing, the public and the government constantly expect more for the same money and we don't know what sort of knock on effect this whole Brexit fiasco is going to have on our country.

Uncertain times here at the moment.

I am from the Philippines, planning to work as a Nurse in the UK. However, I am weighing pros and cons about going there due to the Brexit. I might consider other countries where migration seems more lenient.

I have heard that it is difficult to apply for permanent residency there since you have to meet certain annual salary. Any nurse who has experienced such? Or in the process of applying for PR and or British Citizenship?

I am also a nurse working in Dubai and got an offer in Surrey. Im travelling around December and hoping to meet fellow Filipino nurses as I do not know anyone from there as of now. Will a starting Band 5 nurse salary be enough for our bills and expenses?
