scrubs and ironing

by CT Pixie Premium Member

Ok, I know I am probably not the majority, from how I've seen too many disheveled looking, just starting the shift people, but I iron my scrub tops and bottoms.

My mother-in-law thought she'd help out one night while babysitting and she ironed my laundry basket of "to be ironed clothes". I was appreciative as I hadn't ironed in a while since I have an insane amount of scrub tops and bottoms. Anyway, I put on a pair the other day, went to work and got teased beyond belief. I didn't realize it but my mother-in-law put a front crease in my scrubs..it acutally made the scrubs fall nicer and it had a nice, freshly ironed look. I normally don't crease them, I just iron them to get all the wrinkles out (I despise seeing even the littlest of wrinkles, one of my mom's OCD obessions that I seemed to have inherited). I recall a few classmates who always had a front crease in their scrub bottoms, but I never did it myself.

My question is two fold:
A) Do you iron your scrubs
B) Do you put a front crease in them

I guess I'm a slob---I never buy anything that requires care beyond washing and drying. I can't imagine wasting my precious, limited free time sweating over a hot iron........I did enough of it when I was young, and I REFUSE to go back to that.

I like the appearance of a pressed uniform. I just don't want to have to do it myself. LOL

Yes, both.

I like the crease in the arms and down the middle of the leg.

I feel like I look sharp and professional. But, I think other people look nice too. It's just a personal preference.

I always iron my scrubs. If I crease or not depends on the make of the pants. I personally think looking like a slob undermines your authority. Who wants a nurse who doesn't look like she can take care of herself?

I starch and iron my scrubs b/c I can't stand the "just got out of bed look" that seems to be so popular these days.

I don't have to iron my Grey's Anatomy's...they come out of the dryer perfect and stay that way if I hang them right away.

Now, my boot cut scrub bottoms..I iron seam to seam with no center crease.

I have a couple of pairs of straight leg pants, and I do put a crease in these.

Yes, I'm an obsessive ironer...I even iron the twin's clothes.

MOM?! Is that YOU????

Twin's clothing = 2 children born at the same time
or
Twin's clothing = bras?

Because if its bras..MA! Again, I say is that YOU??

My mom irons EVERYTHING, underwear, bras, socks, pants, shirts, pajamas, sheets, towels, washcloths, dish cloths..you name it she has put an iron to it.

All my pants for work are straight leg. Boot cut just doesn't cut it for me, makes me look shorter than I am. Add to the fact that most, if not all, non straight leg pants totally cover my feet so I look like I have none...

I iron with starch, no creases though. i can't stand when people wear messing looking scrubs.
I reciently got my fience to realize that just becacuse he buys wine scrubs that doesn't mean they all match. He now hangs them up in pairs according to brand so the colors match. A baby step. Mabye he will see the importance of the iron soon. Ha!
