Are Crocs good for Nursing

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Some people say that these disrupt Nurse equipment but I've worn them at work and nothing has happened.

Has anyone else had any experiences with them because I don't want to ruin anything at work and I'm worried.

I hate when that happens! Strollin' along, feeling all confident that I have this walking thing down after 54 years, then WHAM! Croc stop! :lol2: :uhoh3: :lol2: :trout: :o :lol2:

It is SOOOOOOO annoying when that happens!! But I still love my Crocs and wear them every day to work.

Crocs Whore here! I have 8 pairs which range from the functional Pearl to my favorite Pirates of the Caribbean ones... I don't wear regular shoes anymore and my feet stopped hurting after the first night I wore them.

I wear Crocs at work. They're very comfortable on my feet.

One of the lab techs I work with has had problems with her legs becoming discolored but I'm not sure if it's PVD and she said since she has started wearing the crocs the coloration has gotten better in her legs.

I have a pair of crocs that I don't wear to work. Actually my daughter and I have matching crocs. I let her pick out the jibbitz for her shoes and I got myself the RN jibbitz for my non-work crocs.

I have never had more comfortable shoes in my life! They are so easy to clean up, too, if you spill anything on them. I've washed them at home in the washing machine with bleach to get them disinfected. My original pair are 2 1/2 years old and still as comfy as the day I bought them.

I LOVE CROCS!

Crocs made it possible for me to survive my last six months of hospital nursing. I still wear 'em to this day, although I prefer the closed style since they're a bit dressier (and keep my feet dry when it rains). I wear an old pair whenever I work in the garden---there's nothing better than Crocs when you're mucking out flowerbeds or turning the compost pile!

I also like them because I am terribly hard on shoes and have to replace them pretty frequently, so Crocs provide a cheap and comfy alternative to more traditional shoes. (I can't wear heels or flat shoes with no padding or support......they make my back and knees ache ferociously.) In addition, they come in lots of fun colors, which is great in the summertime when I like to match my shoes to my bright, warm-weather clothes. And all you have to do when they get grubby is put 'em on the front porch and hose 'em down!:D What's NOT to like?

I like them because they are not only comfortable for the feet, it seems I also tend to have less back pain when I have them on.

As far as spilling something on them, well I have had a major spill on regular white sneakers, and guess what ! I had to change into my spare pair because the liquid I spilled ( dumped over PTs urinal he had set on floor beside the bed), leaked in anyway. So as far as the leaking problem its always good to have a spare in your locker !

Now the "Croc Stop" is something to watch out for, I agree!

Yeah.........I just hate it when you're going somewhere in a hurry and the Croc Stop happens, causing one foot to stop short while the rest of you (and whatever you might be carrying) continues in the original direction at the original velocity~

During a hospital orientation, I was told an accidental needle stick occurred when a nurse dropped a syringe and the needle went through the air vent at top of her crocks. At that facility, they're discouraged, but not forbidden. Most of my co-workers wear then at the nursing home where I work.

I was wearing leather nursing shoes and dropped a used syringe that went thru the airvent.

The only problem with crocs is if admin tries to pull them off my dead cold feet.

These bad boys are staying put, thank you very much! Jibbitz and all...

I started a thread a few months back...I find that the Specialist model of Crocs(the one they made specifically for those in healthcare) has not caused Croc stop. Haven't had one after 2 months. They even have holes on the strap(they have closed footbeds) so I can still wear Jibbitz. Yesterday, I bought a pair of New England Patriots crocs..they make them for all the teams and for baseball too. I'm getting the Red Sox ones in the spring. The strap has the logo on it and the footbeds are the ones with the holes. I have the Mammoth model also-yes, I'm a Croc addict and have the problem free feet to prove it!

A coworker recommended placing a piece of tape (plastic tape) towards the toe on the bottom of each of my crocs to prevent Croc Stop. It actually works well but my Crocs are Pearl colored and the tape quickly turns a nasty black which looks cruddy if you look at the bottom of your shoe. I usually only notice it when I'm on the phone waiting to give report but it still bothers me seeing it. :uhoh21: I just change the tape frequently between washings but I'm curious to try the new Crocs for Professionals since another poster remarked that they don't give you the dreaded sudden stop. I noticed the even newest version of Crocs for nurses have closed heels in addition to the closed toes and they conform to your foot similar to how Danskos do. I also notice they have extra tread gripping toward the toe. I would think that would make Croc Stop even worse. Has anyone tried any of the new designs listed on this website below? I don't remember the Professional Crocs having the toe tread. They aren't listed in this link:

I always said I would NEVER wear Crocs. Last summer I tried on my niece's and haven't worn my Dansko or Adida's since. My current favorite is my new sheepskin lined ones. I don't wear them to work, but I wear them everywhere else.

I love the air vents and being able to kick them off whenever I want to. The only downside is the dreaded croc-stop!
