One of the threads I saw on this topic was a while ago, so lets get an update.
I just got sclerotherapy for some spider veins and varicose veins (im only 25, so they weren't too bad yet, nothing "bulging" but they were pretty visible), and have been wearing Futuro brand thigh high 18-20mmHg strength stockings since the procedure.
the doctor who did it simply told me "make sure they are medical grade compression".
I will be adamant about wearing them on days i work on the floor.
Honestly, besides the post procedural swelling/bruising/soreness, my legs overall feel better at the end of the work day after wearing these.
To the nurses who wear compression stockings for prevention/maintenance of spider and varicose veins: which brand do you prefer and what strength? Thanks in advance!
Everyone swears by theses! Cute too! Fashionable Compression Socks | VIM & VIGR
I love Sockwell brand! They offer 15-20mmHg and 20-30mmHg of compression. Here's a website for them :)
Does anyone have any advice as far as choosing length? I typically wear knee-high, but the women in my family tend to get varicose veins behind the knee and in the thigh area it seems (some on calves as well) so I'm not sure if I would be better off with thigh-high or like panty-hose style..?
totalcompressionsolutions.com has awesome support socks, very soft with great support!
I have a friend who swears by these. I've been meaning to try them. I have ones from either Nurse Mates or Cherokee, I can't remember....but they don't really do the job anymore.

Did you try the Dr. Scholl's graduated compression stockings? They come in black, white, and a sheer color, and are available in 15-20 Hg or 20-30, depending on your needs. Nurses swear by them. They can really help you get through that 12 hour shift.
