Under the supervision of an RN and Nursing Instructor I utilized judgment supported by nursing theory and practice in the delivery of nursing care. I performed physical assessments (head-to-toe, basic neuro), medication administration, dressing changes/wound care, IVs, communicated with patient family members. I also participated on the interdisciplinary team alongside the RN in giving/receiving report as well as collected patient assessment data, administered injections and medications, performed glucose monitoring/checks, patient care procedures as directed and according to established criteria. I assisted during simple lab tests, maintained timely flow of patients. Assisted in patient and family education, documented patient care and related information, followed up on patient care as needed, reviewed and maintained charts and all other aspects of nursing care.

Try listing what units you had clinical on not just the facility. Enhance customer service and budget supply management in the bar tender job. Reduce I statements

I would definitely highlight the fact that you are bilingual somewhere toward the top. Spanish skills are in demand. Do you have any certification or proof of your fluency? Is it spoken/listening or also translating written documents?

You need short, concise, and to the point resume. (Use bullet points) It needs to be a "flash" of who you are and what skills you can provide all on one page. Rewrite with "key" words, like effective, demonstrated, implement, proficient, etc. I would use a summary of qualifications instead of an objective. Next, I would list key skills, education/certifications, clinical experience, and then work experience. Get rid of the paragraph with all of the I statements. Again, it's too much to read. Just list the facility and unit. Year is not necessary. Your graduation date is on the resume, that is enough.

I say take out the bartender thing completely. It's not relevant to your search for a nursing job and you only did it for six months. (And, honestly, I hope you haven't submitted resumes with a job description written in all caps.)

For a new grad resume, Education belongs on top. Take out or reword the objective. Everyone knows your objective is to get a job and there's nothing in this statement that sets you apart from any of the 1,000s of other new grads who are submitting resumes. Don't put a whole paragraph about what you did in clinicals. Every new grad had clinicals where they administered meds and did assessments. If you're going to make someone read a paragraph about you, it better be something that makes you stand out. This doesn't.

If you're going to list skills they should also be skills that not every single nurse in the world can do. I agree to list your Spanish speaking ability but vital signs, physical assessment, medication administration and everything else you list are basic nursing skills that ALL nurses can do.

is this better?

References

References available upon request

You shoud not have a paragraph on your resume and you should not have complete sentences describing what you did. You just need to list the most important/revelant things that you did during clinicals (communicating whith patients and family members should not be on a resume). A skill such as Veinpuncture is good to list if you did it during clinical. Also, it is a given that you were under the supervision of an RN or instructor when you were a student nurse. There is no need to state the obvious. Also, you do not need to put "References available upon request" that is also a given. How long is your Resume in a word doc? It should not be over 1 page.

To make your Clinical Experiences more appealing to the eye you should list it something like this:

Westside Regional Medical Center (city, state) 5/13-8/13

Student Nurse

(list relevant floors or units you were on & most important skills)

Broward General Medical Center (city, state) (Date range)

Student Nurse

(list relevant floors or units you were on & most important skills)

Basically each hospital should only be listed once. This makes it simpler and much less confusing. The date range should have the entire range in it wether you were there every month or not, unless there is a significant gap of time you were not there (in that case you could put 2 date ranges for one hospital).
