When to purchase Saunder's RN-NCLEX?

I am taking my Chronicity exam Friday, so I am still in the early portion of my EC program. I am hoping to do one exam per month from here out (don't know HOW I am going to make it throught the reading material that fast but I need to get this finished before summer!) and I read in a previous post that someone also early in their studies is reviewing RN-NCLEX. Has anyone done this and did it help them for their nursing theory exams and Lifespan exams? I started to think this may be an exellent idea to get a headstart on some material (and I am all for any MOTIVATING idea!) especially if it would benefit exams now, but don't want to waste time either. Thanks!

I have used it for all of my exams and you even see some of the questions from the NCLEX book on the exam. Good Luck!! :nurse:

My plan is to read a chapter of it a day. That way it's easy, low pressure and when I really need to review something, I have good idea of where everything is in the book. Kind of like a daily "nursing multivitamin". :)

Of course, those who have done it (rather than still working on it), may have other ideas.

Does anyone know which edition is 2010? I can find several 2 & 4th editions on ebay, but that is from around 2007 (for like $5!!). Worth it or better to get the new one?

I saw a 5th edition at Borders yesterday. Get the most current -- the NCLEX had a bit of an overhaul in April, so you'll need the newest.

I used Saunders also, whatever test I took for Excelsior there is a correspodent chapter. The Health safety in Saunders was spot on for the exam. Best resource I used.

I also used Saunders early on for my exams, it was very helpful. I guess I should get the newest edition as well.

How many NCLEX guides are usually purchased? It seems like I see "Saunders" pop up most often on the boards, is this usually the best one? My local bookstore was able to get if for me within 3 days for $58 so I thought that was pretty reasonable.

I think it's a toss-up between Saunders and Kaplan as far as what people use most often. I used Saunders, personally.

Review books make good bedtime reading or anytime reading. They can be useful, (some more than others due to set up of info), for any nursing exams, not just NCLEX. I used them throughout school and liked them for this purpose.
