thomas edison state college RN-BSN?

Nursing Students Online Learning

Anyone have any info on this program for RN-BSN? Any tips, cautions, reviews about doing my RN-BSN at this school? I searched & most info is years old.

Thank you so much for your reply. How many weeks are the semesters? How many classes can you take at once?

I'm just starting my first class with them, which runs from 9/26 until 12/17. I am only taking one 3-credit class for now because I am still on orientation for work, but I assume that once you're off orientation and your work schedule gets lighter, you can take 2 classes at once rather than one (that's what I plan to do).

33762FL which class are you taking? This is my first class as well, I chose Informatics as my inaugrial jump into the BSN program at TESC, what did you go with?

Thank you so much everyone for your replys.... Good luck!!!!

they advisor on the phone suggested that new students start with either Informatics or Health Assessment, so I went with Informatics. I'll do Health Assessment for the next session that starts after New Year's (not sure if I should try to take that along with another class or just stick to that one, as it looks like it's more than 3 credits for that class).

Hi everyone, new here. old nurse, lol...Im enrolled in the rn to bsn/msn TESC program. I live in jersey and have over 190 college credits I collected over the years. TE was wonderful about matching up my credits with their requirements. It may be easier if you are a state resident since the comm. colleges and other states colleges have an agreement to exchange credits. So , I paid my 75 dollars, sent my transcripts and viola ! I only need the upper level nsg classes (6 classes) for my rn and another5 for my msn. In the meantime, it ends up I qualify for a BA in natural science and math (many of my old credits were calc, physics, bio, etc..), so Im applying for graduation from that program. Pretty complicated but that's kinda how my life is....Overall, TE has been very responsive and accommodating. And as far as reputation, the college is known as a brick and mortar school...most folks in jersey assume you went to the campus. It has a good state school reputation. Anyone else taking informatics in Jan?

Hi mjishernameo. Congrats on qualifying for the TE BA degree! That's exciting. :)

My story was similiar to yours. After my ADN and numerous college courses over numerous years... To get a BA in psychology at TE in 2009 I only needed to take 6 hours online and 5 courses that I tested out of by exam. It was exciting to get credit for all the courses I took years ago and earn a degree.

Now I'm looking into the TE RN - BSN program.

Are you sure TESC is a B & M school? When I graduated in 2009 I was told by the head of BA advisement that TESC only exists as an online school.

It was funny to hear that just as I was graduating because one of the reasons I picked TESC was that I thought it had a B & M campus. (Like you said, I figured some would think I had taken some of the classes at a state B & M school instead of doing it all online.)

In any event, I think it's a great school. Good luck with your classes at TESC everyone! I hope to join you all in the RN/BSN program soon.

Hmmm...The campus is in trenton, Ive passed it enroute to my sons college...I am sure it's a B&M...the HR director where I work graduated TE, I asked if she went online and she said no, she took all classes at the campus. Maybe some of the programs only online? I'll have to look into it. Not that it matters, Im happy with my choice thus far.

Good luck to you...let me know what courses you'll be taking...Im thinking informatics in Jan. I have to wait until my BA diploma is awarded to switch back major to NSG, then I can register for my first class.

Are you thinking of Psych nursing?

Yeah that's strange but in 2009 I was told there is a building or a few buildings but that the classes are all online. When I call the nursing program later in the week I'll ask again. Still I'm very glad I got the BA at TESC.... and it sounds good since 'state' is part of the name of the school.

I haven't decided between informatics or Health assessment as my first class in January. I went with the psychology degree first because I figured it would help with day to day work in nursing...Plus I had a lot of psych course credits from way back. Good luck!

So my informatics class is winding down and it was a good experience. I work full time and it was managable...I don't have any kids at home so that's a break. Im thinking of 2 classes in april then just 2 more and Im done ! I have to take a loan or get financial aid b/c husband is out of work right now...and I have one son still in college...so im hoping I qualify for something...

How is it going for you? Are you taking anything in April?
