thomas edison state college RN-BSN?

Updated:   Published

Anyone have any info on this program for RN-BSN? Any tips, cautions, reviews about doing my RN-BSN at this school? I searched & most info is years old.

I just sent in my application to them last night. I'd love to hear some reviews as well. Judging by their website, they're generous with transfer credits and have minimal extraneous coursework required, so I thought they'd be a good fit for me since I already have 120 credits from a previous degree.

@33762FL --So did you hear back from the school? Did u have to pay to get your past credits reviewed? Anything else you would like to share? I feel so in the dark because the limited info on this school. I cant apply until I get my license # posted on the board of nursing, I just passed nclex last week.

I paid a $75 application fee but no additional fee was required for transcript review. So far TESC has been very helpful and responsive, they sent me official acceptance material within 1 week of my application.

Did the give credits for your license. How many classes are you required to take to complete the program

I did not get credits for my license. I am still in the transcript review process so i don't know if i will have to take more than the upper level 8 nursing classes, but judging by their website's explanations of what classes can count toward which non-nursing requirements, I will be very surprised if they come back to me and tell me I have to take anything at all that is non-nursing.

Ok thanks. I am still in the transcript review process too. it seems to be taking a while. i just wondering about the credit for license because most schools offer that.

I am hoping to get srarted soon and complete the program before the middle of next year. So i am hoping that they are really honest about the credits that they accept.

HELLO

have you heard anything from edison yet regarding your transcribe evaluation. I have not heard yet and they went from telling me it would take 10 business day to 20 and today told me 25. I am really trying to make a decision on several schools based on what they will accept.

Specializes in Emergency, Critical Care, Pre-Hospital,.

tesc doesn't give anything for your license but rather from your nursing education (semantics, i know). the lower division nursing credits are from your nursing school along with any general education work completed.

hope that helps.

i too am in the transcript review process but tesc's site says the distribution of credits is as follows:

I am so happy- finally got transcribe eval from Edison I only need to take six courses to complete BSN. At this point even hurricane Irene can't unset me now. Most school keep telling me 10 course or 12- and some don't take previous BSN courses from previous schools. If i stay focus at this rate I should be able to complete my degree faster.

sshcnurse,

Congratulations!!! I do not have allgebra and chemistry. I do have microbiology, anatomy 1 and 2, and patho. Do you feel Thomas Edison school will want me to take additional classes or just the 8 upper division classes.

Thank you for any information.

My experience with TESC: You need a certain number of credits in science and a certain number in math. You need microbiology and A&P 1+2 but the remaining science credits can come from any college level science class (my other sciences were physics and nutrition, I did not have college chemistry either). You need 1 college level math class, which does not have to be Algebra. Mine was Calculus 1 which is way above Algebra and it was fine to fulfill TESC's requirement.
